Of that group, I like Naylor's odds best of securing decent PT. If this were a real league, I'd roll the dice on VanMeter and hope the Reds realize trotting out the rotting corpse of Joey Votto diminishes their chances of winning daily, move Moose to 1B and open up 2B for VanMeter. But even as just a utility guy, VanMeter can give some passable numbers in 275 - 300 ABs.

funny story: I knew I could gain a point in SB by taking Van Meter over Naylor (otherwise choice didn't matter), and as it happens I'd have taken the point from "82."
so it would have been 81 to 80.5 to 80.5

but on the off-chance that they actually play baseball this year, I figure Van Meter is more likely to spend more time this year in the minors than Naylor. so I passed up the point.

out of curiosity - for anyone who is in a NL- or AL-only redraft league, would that sort of a race typically be projected? granted that in those leagues, trades, FA pickups and so forth would broaden the gaps. but this looks like one helluva race (5 to 7 teams within margin of error to win!)

in 1999, we had 4 owners with a chance to win the title depending on the stats from the Game 163 play-in game of Mets vs Reds (and this in a Mets-loving league no less). I wasn't in the mix, but it was the wildest day in our 36-year auction history. I know at least two of those 4 are still in our league - and in this draft version.

once pickable Harper went before me in Round 2, this was my inevitable path (because I only chose players whom I had bought at our league auction in past years or picked in a farmhand draft - Albies, Polanco). but it's competitive.
