After two consecutive seasons of 30+ HRs and around a 120 OPS+, he hit the skids like no one's business, finishing his disastrous campaign with a .157/.281/.270 line. He sprained his right wrist early in the season, but after coming back did nada and was chased by Keston Hiura. After a successful stint in the minors, he was given a second chance and flopped badly again, and that as they say was that.

He recently said:
“Never been more motivated,” Shaw told reporter Robert Murray via text. “Can’t wait for 2020 to start. Someone is gonna get lucky.”

Does anyone believe him? He'll likely get a chance to start somewhere on a 1-year deal. I'd definitely take a later round flier on him, but another slow start and his new team might pull the ripcord real quick.

I don't think he's seeing the ball well. In 2018 there was a big jump in BB. In 2019 there was a big jump in K.

1 year, 4 mil. Gives them some flexibility at 3rd. Good low risk signing that could allow Shaw to rebuild his value.

Fine value for the Jays. I would only do a $1 endgame bid on him, except in AL only. He could be finished. He could be fine. He could be fine, then traded.

He made mechanical changes in the 2018 offseason without consulting any Brewers management. Outright refused to adjust until sent down to AAA ball. Now is claiming he's going back to old mechanics and everything will be great.

3B fielding, both by the eye test and UZR metrics, took a pretty big step back last year too.

Agree with cavebird that he's worth an endgame buck.
