rotoworld is saying 10 days of rest and then reassess. He figures to be out a month.
After former Broncos quarterback Brian Griese sprained his ankle and said he was tripped on the stairs of his home by his golden retriever, Bella: “The dog stood up on his hind legs and gave him a push? You might want to get rid of that dog, or put him in the circus, one of the two.”

Alderson said treatment would be non-surgical and that he would need to rest for approximately 10 days before returning to baseball activities.

I'm sorry, man, but I've got magic. I've got poetry in my fingertips. Most of the time--and this includes naps --I'm an F-18, bro. And I will destroy you in the air. I will deploy my ordinance to the ground.

              CBS Sports:
The New York Post reports that David Wright (back) could face long-term effects from the fracture in his lower back, an injury that the Mets revealed on Monday. Dr. Arnold Criscitiello, a spine surgeon, said that while Wright could return as soon as his 15 days are up if he goes on the disabled list, the better course of action would be to do a 4-to-6 week layoff. Wright, who will go for a second opinion before a final decision as to whether or not he will be placed on the 15-day disabled list is made, will be shut down for at least the next 7-10 days.

Heh, someone said "Mets" and "better course of action" in the same paragraph.

The Mets seem to have the worst medical staff in baseball right now

The team says June 5 is a possibility but I doubt that seriously.
Find that level above your head and help you reach it.

Until they establish some credibility, any pronouncement from the team and/or its medical staff should be doubted. That said, I hope they're correct, and I say that as someone who isn't a Wright owner.

                        Oh puhleeze. :blabla:

DQ -- there's a new regime in charge that has as much to do with Omar Minaya as you or I do. And as we discussed before, the "Mets doctors" (specifically Dr. Altchek) don't actually work for the Mets -- they're some of the top specialists at the city's best hospitals. Whatever went on in the past is in the past.

I said establish some credibility. Given the issues of the past, they start at zero, like any new regime. Since they're not necessarily the same guys and gals, I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Until they set some target dates and meet them and establish a track record of correct diagnoses and treatments, they're suspect. Employees of the team or independent contractors, they still work for the Mets.

                            So no on June 5?

Sorry Ed, but he's not wrong. Having a sports team as a client means an enormous amount of money to a practice. Russell Warren at Special Surgery, for instance, has attracted a huge client base because of his work with the NY Giants; having a shoulder (especially) done by him has become the gold standard in NY high school & college sports because of the association. If the Wilpons tell their team doctors that if they want to hold their contracts they're going to do or say X or Y it comes with a ton of financial pressure. The docs may have integrity and tell the Mets to shove it, but if they didn't go that route they certainly wouldn't be the first.

I'm with DQ-- they need time to restore that franchise's credibility.
