  • Time to give up on unsigned players?

I guess I already know the answer to this, but as the dust settled, and with all the injuries out there in various OFs, I'm surprised Melky Cabrera, Mark Reynolds, and Jose Bautista (in that order) did not get a shot anywhere. Is it now safe to cut bait in the idea of any of these guys playing this year?

barring a huge rash of injuries hitting a given team I'd vote yes (at this point I'd have to be in a reaalllllllyyyyyy deep league to have any of those guys stashed away)
It certainly feels that way. But I'm distrustful of that feeling and am curious about evidence.

I already cut bait on Melky, but I wouldn't be shocked if he or Reynolds eventually made an appearance. Jose Bautista seems the longest shot of the three to re-appear. I don't think any find full-time work anywhere.

Looks like Reynolds is going to sign with the Nats...solid bench bat power.

Melky was dropped in our AL only last night to make room for a $2 Faab pick up of Chris Young.

Now he can't be bid until he signs with a team.

            Zimmerman and Adams
isn't Reynolds just Adams but can play a little 3B instead of LF?

I think that in the end, he's simply a depth play in case anyone gets injured...and it's not like Zimmerman is a stranger to the DL I'm guessing that Reynolds sits in the minors for a good 3 weeks before any decision is made.
