and all Greg Holland owners finally exhale.

      from rotoworld ...
Marx Saxon of The Athletic says a deal is in place, pending a physical. It seemed like an obvious match all offseason and it looks like the Cardinals slow-played this until the very end. No word yet on the financial framework. Holland figures to work in the ninth inning for St. Louis whenever he's ready. The 32-year-old slowed as the 2017 season ended, but he did finish tied for the National League lead in saves with 41 and he posted a 3.61 ERA with 70 strikeouts in 57 1/3 total innings.
It certainly feels that way. But I'm distrustful of that feeling and am curious about evidence.

Excellent news for this $1 Holland owner!

Is Holland on the opening day 25 man roster? Crucial for our auction this weekend.

I would guess no with the first pitch about a 1/2 hour away.

Also, Giants placed RHP Mark Melancon on the 10-day disabled list with a right forearm injury.

                    Alright Greg Holland!

I passed on all of the Giants speculative adds because i thought the chances had increased for them to create payroll space for Holland. But i'll take Holland being with the Cards or anywhere. Just get him a uniform already.

                    • Melancon said he pitched in pain all spring but it got much worse when he went back to back days last week. Had an MRI that showed inflammation in flexor and is getting treatment now. Will see a specialist while Giants are in L.A.

Mark Melancon said the pain he’s feeling this year is “very similar” to what he felt last year. MRI revealed inflammation in his flexor, and right now, he can’t throw 30 feet without feeling pain.

03.29: Phillies manager Gabe Kapler said Thursday that he will not have a defined closer.
(Hector Neris probably remains the favorite to pace the club in saves, but Kapler wants to play the matchups and guys like Pat Neshek, Luis Garcia, Adam Morgan, and Edubray Ramos could all get chances. It figures to be a frustrating situation for fantasy pursuits.)

Doesn't sound good. Lucky I have Strickland in both of my leagues. Hope he can step up and be the closer.

                              • 03.29: Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Cory Gearrin and Tony Watson will serve as the team's primary setup men ahead of closer Hunter Strickland. (The Giants have had to reshuffle their bullpen in the wake of Mark Melancon's forearm injury. Sam Dyson has closing experience but Bochy is opting to use him in lower-leverage situations coming off a dismal spring in the Cactus League. For now, Gearrin should be San Francisco's go-to arm in the eighth with Watson getting most of his work against left-handers.)

Bochy also said he expects Melancon back "in a couple of weeks."
