Texas signed Dillon Gee and Josh Hamilton (2012 seems SO long ago) to a minor league deals and invited them to ST.

          • Marlins are close to trading for the Red's Dan Straily for Louis Castillo, Austrin Brice, and Isaiah White.

The Cincinnati Reds traded right-hander Dan Straily to the Miami Marlins for three prospects, including right-hander Luis Castillo.
Bob- I'm not exactly sure it would ROCK as you say it Byron.. it may be cool, by typical text book descriptions. Your opinion of this is shallow and poorly constructed, but allow me to re-craft your initial thought into something tangable.

Wow if true! The Reds will get the Marlins #2 prospect for a pitcher they picked off waivers last year. Talk about selling high!

              • There was speculation that the Reds were still in the market for starting pitching - this seems to point to the fact that they will sign a free agent. Doug Fister, possibly?

Current projected starting pitching staff (per mlb.com):

                1. A. DeSclafani
                2. B. Finnegan
                3. H. Bailey
                4. (Straily's spot)
                5. T. Adleman
                6. R. Stephenson

I thought I read somewhere that they are considering stretching out Trevor Rosenthal for the rotation.

me too. And I always confuse the Red & the Cards as well.
It certainly feels that way. But I'm distrustful of that feeling and am curious about evidence.

How freaking bad do the Marlins HATE Luis Castillo. I mean HATE. First they trade him for Colin Rea and now Dan Straily.

I would say Mr. Castillo is destined for true greatness, and I am not being facetious.

Good news for Feliz owners: His current competition for the closer's role is Corey Knebel, Carlos Torres, Jacob Barnes, Jhan Mariñez and Michael Blazek.

Bad news for Feliz owners: If he captures the role and succeeds, he'll be flipped to a contender mid-season, and could easily lose those save opportunities.

Good news for Feliz owners: The Brewers are probably gambling on scenario #2, and as such, will grant him the role to open the season, and allow him to keep it so long as he doesn't completely screw the pooch in the early going.

Conclusion: If I'm bidding on Feliz this year, I'm probably bidding on 12-18 saves, with an outside shot at more if his new mid-season team needs him to close.
