    Daniel Hudson to the Pirates.
It certainly feels that way. But I'm distrustful of that feeling and am curious about evidence.

I suppose that they figure that they "fixed" Jeremy Hellickson, so they can "fix" Buchholz as well. If they took on the whole contract, not a great deal, if not, maybe it'll work out for them. Although it's the last year of the deal, so no biggie in this day and age...

Pirates resign Ivan Nova for 3 years/$26 million.

And the Pirates are also reportedly still in hot pursuit of Jose Quintana. They have the prospects to deal (Glasnow, Bell, or Meadows) but i'm not sure if they will agree to the White Sox asking price.

I've heard that they're willing to give up Mitch Keller, but that's probably not going to be enough for the White sox...Quintana is very good, and very cheap. He's got a contract through 2020 that's roughly 34 million total if both club options are picked up. That alone is worth quite a bit in prospect weight...

they have a dark closet full of money they are doing nothing with, so really, it's a no lose signing. They gave up a guy who has a ceiling of marginal utility player. If Bucholz has a decent season and the rest of the staff all comes together (Nola is healthy and pitches like he did at the start of last season, VV pitches like he did at times and gives them 1 more inning per start, Hellickson pulls another year like last year, and Eichoff is steady once again) then maybe they make the year interesting and fun. If Bucholz is decent and the rest of the staff is unsteady, they probably flip him for something better than what they gave up to get him. If he sucks once again, they gave up little in players and threw away some cash that they weren't going to use for anything else.

They aren't interested in taking on any long term players right now while they figure out what they have in Nola, Hoskins, Cozens, VV, Thompson, Eflin, Nick Williams... etc. So they weren't going to spend on any big free agents (not that there is anyone really exciting out there). Aside from Herrera who they just signed cheap for the next 5 years, they have no one under contract past 2017.

No lose... just Win (20%) or Meh (80%)

Edwing to the Tribe @ 3 years $60 million.

The Jays couldn't match that??? Damn.

I have to think that Keller plus one of their top 3 prospects (Glasnow, Bell, Meadows) would get it done. Maybe throw in another low ranked prospect to make it a 3 for 1 deal.

@ $4 mil. Where were the Jays on this? He is a great rebound candidate for 2017.

This made more sense for TB to do it as they someone that can play CF for Kiermaier insurance and he could have platooned with Dickerson. Ugh

I like this move but wonder who is the O's 5th starter now. Jimenez I guess which is fine if he pitches like he did the last few weeks but I'm skeptical.
