Could you imagine this news two or three years ago?
Last year Houston traded Adrian Houser, Domingo Santana, Josh Hader, and Brett Phillips to get Gomez and Fiers. Ouch."Experience is simply the name we give our mistakes." Oscar Wilde

Is he worth holding? If he's in limbo for 10 days I guess I have to drop him or trade him for an upgrade. Short bench and I need SB.

This was his 2012 Fangraph Profile:
Profile: Gomez picked up 16 steals in just 258 plate appearances last season, but this was the extent of his fantasy usefulness. He continues to strike out too much to be much of a threat at the plate (24.8% of plate appearances), even though he has definite raw power, which he showed with eight home runs and 11 doubles in his platoon role. Look for him to stay in a similar role next season, batting against lefties and playing possibly the best defensive center field in the league. (Jack Moore)
The Quick Opinion: Gomez can rack up steals any time he's getting on base, but there are two problems. First, he's not very good at getting on base, and second, he's locked up in the short side of a platoon with Nyjer Morgan.
The guy was 27 when he broke out. He's now the wrong side of 30. Is such a collapse unusual? Yes. Completely out of bounds. Nah.

Gomez was an 8.5 WAR player in 2013 (#2 in MLB behind Mike Trout) with the majority of it coming on defense. This season, his whole game collapsed. I'm sure the Astros didn't see this coming!

There were articles in the spring about how he was seeing more pitches in the strike zone and still not hitting, see below. Also, his defense went south almost as fast as his bat.
