For the maybe one person who cares, I never did trade for Melancon. Partly cause I'm an idiot and never got around to making an offer with Ziegler before he got traded. In my defense, I thought I had more time before he would get traded. Then losing Pomeranz was a big blow. Somehow I still have a 16 point lead. I was able to pick Chapman when he came over, using $73 of my FAAB.

I made a trade today that should help me keep my lead. Thoughts on this deal?

I gave Austin Meadows $10M, Trayce Thompson $1A, Rickie Weeks (position filler), Juan Nicasio $1B (sort of filler, sort of useful in his cheapness) and a first round pick in the minor leauge draft and I got back Joey Votto $31B and Carlos Martinez $26A.

I think both Votto and Martinez can be considered keepers at their prices. I've been carrying only 3 starters since Pomeranz was traded but have managed to keep my lead in strikeouts. The team in second place has been steadily gaining on me cause they have 8 starters but they are the team I made the trade with. I have a 53 K lead on him so hopefully this will keep me in front of him.
