Close is also the guy that seemed to mishandle the Aiken/Astros situation.

Well done by Close to get both less money and less years for a client who couldn't get a deal, and now has to enter the market again next year, a year older, or take another crappy 1 year deal. Well done Casey Close, well done.
And they also turned down the QO for $15.2m to get a 2-yr deal for $17m.

Well, he certainly did right by those guys. Obviously, he would not have lasted long if he wasn't good at his job. But super agents do seem to screw up on their lesser clients sometimes. Anyone can screw up sometimes--Boras, who many hate but most have to admit is generally great for his big name clients has done messed up with some of his lesser clients as well, gambling on a big multi-year deal when the QO was the smarter play. This is a case where if seems like Case didn't navigate his client to the best deal.

Rotoworld speculation is that maybe a Soler deal is in the works. I doubt it, since Fowler is only a 1-year thing. Plus, this gives them a huge cushion if injury strikes.

That is all true, but if a Soler deal brings in a top arm, it still makes sense for them, especially if they believe Baez is ready to contribute.
