it seemed to me to be a pretty pedestrian recitation of the night, mostly for those who didn't actually follow it that evening.
The issue is really a simple one...how fast is too fast? it's not like Sherman was really wrong, he just didn't use the phrase "pending physicals". And honestly, this happened in a pretty harmless setting, the toy department of news...sports. What happens in a real fast breaking situation where lives might hang in the balance? Do you get credit for being 1st, or for being right? It's a conundrum that's going to plague journalism for quite a while.
