I really like that Votto offer. Polanco shows no signs of becoming elite. Could happen, but...

Win the title and worry about it later.

No way Harper is worth anywhere near that.

See what the Goldschmidt/ AGonz guy says first. Maybe you can swing a deal that leaves you Giolito. The other guys you're giving are irrelevant from my vantage point.

        - Polanco can be 5 in 2016 and out, or 10 in 2016 with 15 in 2017 option, so giving more up than just LGio.
        - to update CarGo concerns, I'd only climb to 2nd in FAAB if he goes to AL, so possible getting him adds very little.

thoughts? better than just the Harper for Giolito angle?
Oh my gosh, that's far better. I'd not even screw around negotiating, I'd just jump on that offer right now.
I'm just here for the baseball.

The Harper owner is smoking some major crack - no reason to even deal with him anymore.

I like the Votto deal but beware that Revere is quite the trade candidate himself. If both CarGo and Revere go to the AL then you won't get the bump you were hoping for, but if they both stay then you're in great shape.

Revere, CarGo, and Bruce all chatted about in AL talks. losing any one of them still doesn't get me to top of FAAB board, and losing 2 gets me there but even best AL arrival doesn't likely top a pair of them. that said, I get to keep those other trade chips....

here's what the Harper guy got for Giolito instead. it's the 1st place team, but that team already is 2nd in HR/RBI/R (to the other contender) - and 6th in AVG, so that helps, at least. HQ projection in parentheses:

              He trades
              Bryce Harper 15-0 (30)
              Matt Holliday 23-S2 (16)
              Vance Worley 10-S2 (-2)

              for
              Joc Pederson 5-S2 (15)
              Juan Lagares 7-S1 (8)

Looks like he's the type of owner who doesn't trust pitching prospects which isn't a terrible philosophy. He's going with the youngster who's already in the majors and hitting homers (although struggling lately) and a couple non-factors unless your league has defense and stupid hat wearing as categories

HQ projections have my CURRENT guys at $337 rest of season; challenger climbed to $290 with Harper and Holliday.

                  my best projecteds: Kershaw 41, Greinke 29, Cutch 27, Gordon 27, Tulo 26, Bruce 19, Aramis 19, K-Rod 19 + 6 other 10+ players
                  his best projecteds: Scherzer 35, Harper 30, Pollock 25, Blackmon 24, Kendrick 21, Casilla 18, Parra 17, Shields 17 + 5 other 10+ players

I'll need another bat or two, just in case. plus I have several black holes; better a 10 and a 0 than two 5s, for upgrade purposes....

my failsafe Goldy owner, in 8th place, decides he's "going for 4th" and makes a deal toward that (money in this league is not a huge dent on owner's revenues).

had a megadeal done with the other one, but a positional issue stalled it 5 hours ago and he has been unreachable. trying to be patient...

with my arse flapping in the breeze after one deal went south and that other would-be dumper went north:

                        I get
Matt Kemp 26-S1, Carlos Gonzalez 20-O, Ben Revere 30-S2, and Carlos Ruiz S2-10.

                        I give
farmhand Lucas Giolito, Gregory Polanco 5-S1, Angel Pagan 17-S1, Clint Robinson S2-10, Martin Maldonado S2-10, and my June 2016 draft pick.

if CarGo and Revere stay in NL, I'm happy. otherwise, not so much. they call this other owner "Marvin Haggler" for a reason. refused to substitute Kemp for Votto to allow me to keep Pagan (who has been meh but still), or to dump Lohse on him for unkeepable Tony Watson (worthless to him, but I'd save my 3rd of 6 free moves in dumping Lohse).

he'll be a major contender next year. if I'm not, he'd better have that right nut handy as a throw-in for a dump deal with me next year.

I have to say, I really don't love that deal for you. Polanco isn't great but he's not worthless. You could easily lose Revere and CarGo in the next week.

yeah, there is some risk here. had an unholy trinity - a guy who overvalued Harper, a guy who backed out of dumping, and a guy who was pretty uncooperative. I should have had the leverage, but logic doesn't always rule. I do now have $253 worth of offense (!), with a good 10-12 total pts in HR and RBI on the table to be had. if the other main contender had snatched most of this crop away, I might have had nowhere else to turn (except maybe mid-August deadline, but that's weeks less worth of stats)....

                              aftermath:
                              enjoyed CarGo's 7-HR 1st week, lol

Revere did go to AL, and so did Tulo. so that gives me FAAB lead, and I'll get Cespedes as consolation.
my OF below becomes otherworldly, and looking to trade for Reyes.
Burnett collapse will have me trying for Hammel, too.

I think only one team left to beat, and he loses his CarGo to AL for nothing and is almost tapped out re dumping......

just made this deal as well

I get Aroldis Chapman 40-S2, Adrian Gonzalez 36-S2, and Jonathan Lucroy 14-O

I give K-Rod 2-S1, Tyler Moore 3-S2, Carlos Ruiz S2-10, and farmhand Rafael Tapia

I'm 9th in HR, but only 18 out of 3rd, so adding Rizzo, AdGonz, Cespedes, CarGo, and Kemp at midseason (losing just Puig as big bat) may help me move up there

still have openings for Tulo and Burnett. Jon Gray, a farmhand, auditioning tonight.
I may be able to get overpriced Reyes and Hammel to fill the 2 slots, giving up maybe another farmhand and pick. not sure I need it, but...

hitters are 292 units plus whatever Cespedes FAAB would be listed as
pitchers are 118 plus 2 FA pickups
