John Axford, whose recent struggles on the mound have cost the Rockies dearly, is out as closer. At least for now.
"I had a conversation with John a little earlier and I told him I was going to get him out of that ninth inning for a little bit and let him catch his breath," manager Walt Weiss said Friday evening prior to the Rockies' game against the Cardinals.
Weiss said he has not decided who will fill Axford's role, but mentioned veteran Rafael Betancourt, hard-throwing Tommy Kahnle and Justin Miller, who has closed at Triple-A

Mujica got his 1st save today (perfect IP, no K's). Not sure how many more he'll get but I'm hopeful since I spent $149 FAAB on him in 1 league.Comment
