Was there anyone (besides the Phillies) who thought they'd get more than that considering his contract (and the fact that he's a giant douche)?

    • I don't think anyone, even those in the Phillies front office, expected a "big time haul" for Paps given his contract and that he's an RP. Of course Amaro and co. aren't gonna come out and SAY they don't expect to get much for him, as it would be a dumb negotiating tactic.

      • As far as the "in the division" part, the Phils aren't contending this year or next, so it doesn't matter if he faces them 3 times or 18 times per year. In 2017 he'll be somewhere else. Also, his douchey personality is now inflicted on a division rival.

        • Phils up 3-2 at the end of 8. Giles will get his first post-Paps save opp barring an offensive barrage in the top of the 9th.

            • I'd have paid money to see Paps response if a reporter primed him with this question: "Since you been traded to the Nationals, how do you feel about setting up Drew Storen?"
I'm just here for the baseball.

The Jays can't add 8M in salary.

                • Okay, the next bullpen shoe to drop by Friday is...

ATL: Is Johnson traded, opening it up for Vizcaino?

                  MIL: KRod traded...Jeffress/Smith?

                  CIN: Chapman traded...Hoover?

                  Anyone else I'm forgetting?

I have to think Chapman is the next to go. If CIN is asking for too much, maybe one of the others go first and then CIN lowers the price to get a deal done.

                      • Joe Maddon says he may give Rondon back the closer role (or Strop). Lord knows he's not giving it to Soriano after the most recent implosion.

                        • Adam Warren managed a 3-inning save last night for his first of the year. Except I don't understand how that's possible. The Yankees were up 19-5 when he came into the game in the 7th inning.

                          Tough save.
Considering his only baseball post in the past year was bringing up a 3 year old thread to taunt Hornsby and he's never contributed a dime to our hatpass, perhaps?

                            • Braves traded Johnson to the Dodgers. Looks like Arodys Vizcaino is next up in Hotlanta.

                              • DET closer...Rondon? Wilson? Feliz?

One of the most fun parts of trade season is the trickle-down effect of the departed players and because relievers are the most easily moved assets, that generally leads to closers having the most…
