so like what about the life that doesn't sit in front of a computer screen all the time?
you know the scenario. and you can't say anymore that it's isolated to just when you come home and turn on your puter. everywhere you go, everyone has to be in front of a computer. a phone a tablet etc.. what is going on? what is happening to us is all the sciences.
i read an argument today that AI can be created because all the laws of physics can also be on simulated on a computer. and i believe it's true. i forget what it's called, but it goes back to babbage and lady lovelace.
and you know, for you guys saying AI can't do it, you have a Lady, the Lady Lovelace objection, defending us; a countess even.
and thos giants like Babbage, Lovelace, Turing, they knew they didn't have all the resources, but they realized they had to make their calls. perhaps in the back of their minds they knew it had everything to do with the meaning of our existence.
still it bother me that i can't walk into a place to have 2 new tires put on my car and an alignment, and not see all 6 other customers waiting with either a laptop or a cell phone that they are engrossed in. one of them brought their dog with them, he was cute too dealing with his reality. and our pets accept of attentive engrossment in digital things, they're not into it. but they accept that we are.
the human race is changing on a huge digital scale. and it scares me. sure i had atari and access to an appleII computer and found it the most funnest thing ever. but then you attach it to everything social, and it becomes a beast.
but then i suppose any social contact is always better than none. i don't think our dogs and pets really understand what we are getting ourselves into. they want to help us. but they look at our computer screens, like they looked at our tvs, and say uh uh. because they know, that's not life.

you want to know why kittens think it's another kitten mimicking it's movements in a mirror, but later adults don't? because they realize it's not life. surprisingly you'd think cats would be narcissistic enough to pass the mirror test. they are certainly smart enough to do it. but perhaps they are above that. they say, yeah that's me, but im the ultimate predator. i focus on life, and i've learned reflections are not alive.

"You know what's wrong with America? If I lovingly tongue a woman's nipple in a movie, it gets an "NC-17" rating, if I chop it off with a machete, it's an "R". That's what's wrong with America, man...."--Dennis Hopper
