This could be a pretty groundbreaking discovery. Accepted theory has many different branches of human ancestors in the Homo family. A recent discovery of many intact skulls in Georgia reveals that there was significant variance in size and shape within the Homo Erectus population, enough to possibly account for all the various shapes and sizes of skulls found from the same period in Africa. Up to now, if they found a different shape or size, they slapped a new species and branch onto the tree. This discovery could chop off many of those branches, and simplify the story of human evolution.
