  • TechnoPeasant Chance needs help

I have decided to enter the 21st century and get an iPhone. I have absolutely no clue what are good and bad apps and airport time-killing games and would really appreciate some pointers. Also, if you have any tips or tricks (especially for travel), I'd love to hear them.

    TIA, Chance

If you're not already on Twitter, do it! There is a lot of crap out there, but there is also a TON of information. All of the beat writers tweet great information, as well as a lot of crap, but I trust you to filter it out. Also, there are many, many great fantasy analysts out there, as well as science, politics, weird facts, and deranged actors...lots of fun.

      Which iPhone?

I tend to use apps only if they are substantially better than the mobile website. I still spend most of my time browsing the web.

I used to use Feedly for my RSS feeds ... now I use Blinkfeed (HTC) ... finding that less choice means I check it more often.

The Yahoo Fantasy Football app is terrific, so I imagine the Baseball app is also.

Chrome is probably the best browser ... well for Android anyway.

For "free" calls I have Viber and Skype. Rarely use them though. iPhone's have Facetime which is terrific.

Also, full mobile access to Netflix has been handy.

some of my favorite apps (android and apple usually have the same apps):

        Time Wasters:
        Candy Crush
        Fifa 2014
        Real Racing 3
        SongPop

        sports:
        ScoreMobile

        Music:
Pandora - if you still use it
Bob- I'm not exactly sure it would ROCK as you say it Byron.. it may be cool, by typical text book descriptions. Your opinion of this is shallow and poorly constructed, but allow me to re-craft your initial thought into something tangable.

I don't have an iPhone (or a tablet, or even a cell phone). But I use RSS feeds on my homepage, and Wired and Popular Science are both great.

whatever browser you get make sure you can sync bookmarks across devices with it. I find myself often bookmarking something at home then checking it out later in a store/restaurant, or while commuting ... or vice versa.
It certainly feels that way. But I'm distrustful of that feeling and am curious about evidence.

4S. Facetime is great. Thanks for the tip on Yahoo...I hadn't expected their stuff to be that good.

I'm always looking for new challengers...
Considering his only baseball post in the past year was bringing up a 3 year old thread to taunt Hornsby and he's never contributed a dime to our hatpass, perhaps?
