Facially, I would agree with this.

Why, it's your new city attorney, of course.

Okay, let's see where we stand...

            Beard shaved...check
            All paperwork submitted...check
            New suit...check
            Diet (17 down, 10 to go)...check
Flash cards with council member facts and faces...check
Refresh myself on Texas municipal law...check
Read up on current local issues...check

Here's what will happen...on Sunday the 29th I'll have dinner with two of the decision makers. The next morning, breakfast with the City Manager. Monday noon is lunch with the mayor and a councilman. Monday at 2:30 pm is my interview with the full council.

Am I missing anything here? Is there anything else I need to do to prepare myself for this interview process? Any advice would be appreciated.

i have epiphanies like that all the time. for example i was watching a basketball game today and realized pom poms are like a pair of tits. there's 2 of them. they're round. they shake. women play with them. thus instead of having two, cheerleaders have four boobs.

or spaghetti, or anything else that could spill/splash.

hmmm - two different days; are you going to wear the suit Sunday to dinner as well? If so maybe a different shirt/tie to mix things up.

From an interview prep perspective, everybody is different but I typically try to have a bunch of different storylines ready; anticipate what they could ask & try to align one of your experiential stories to fit. That way any "tell me about a time when ... " questions should be easy to address by building on/tailoring one of your ready-to-go stories.

                            Good luck!
It certainly feels that way. But I'm distrustful of that feeling and am curious about evidence.

Good advice, guys. Some isn't practical, since I'm a candidate on a budget.

I'll wear a different suit Sunday night and save the new one for the big day Monday. A pleasant side effect of my diet so far is that one of my older (but classically styled) suits now fits perfectly. So I have some flexibility.

I'll have to research the Aggies or Horns. My wife is a Texas Ex, though, so I've got some issues there.

Good music advice...it is a music-driven town to some extent. They have live music on the streets every weekend during the summer, and numerous venues for live music - much more than you would expect from a smaller city of 23,000 people. I may strap a Fender to my fender when I drive down to City Hall.

I don't think they will ask any questions on politics, which is fine. I have never run for office as anything other than "non-partisan", so I should be okay there.
