Clicked on one of the videos in Memorium thread and then, once it was over, I went down the rabit hole my suggested videos in youtube.
My usuals are: Poker videos, music I've requeted (it's partial to boston), phillies highlights, and Justified, the Wire, and Ted Lasso clips. But that's neithe here nor there.
One of my suggestions, and it must have been a promo, although I can't think of who would promote this, was a western movie. I'd never heard of it and clicked on it. It opened to a full-length movie. I'm like, is that Kevin Sorbo? Sure enough it was. Great. Stop that shit. The movie is from 2008, but it's got a ton of youtube comments from 10 months ago (maybe that's when it hit youtube as a complete movie?) talking about how great the movie is, and what a wonderful actor Sorbo is and how he only chooses exceelent roles, yadda-yadda-yadda. The movie has a 5.0 on IMBb. I figure "ah, MAGA must be out supporting one of their golden boys." But then I thought about all the spiders that are here on RJ, and with ChatGpt, how hard would it be to write a request that links a synopsis of the movie, some quotes, and Sorbo's resume and tell the spiders to post glowing reviews for the show? I'm sure this is being done (maybe not this case, but it's being done, right)
It's tough enough to know what's true (okay, it shouldn't be, but it seems for a lot of people it is) already, how are we supposed to deal with comments and reviews when it is getting easier and easer all the time to generate a ton of one-sided content?
