Death of a Leaguemate

We lost one this week.

There had been an odd message on Facebook. Seemed to be from his sister, saying that one of our league members had suddenly died.

We hoped it was not true. Over the coming hours, it crystallised.

He'd been in the league for 17 seasons; not of the original founding members but further back than most. A dealmaker. A good dude.

One of the guys has known him for 20 years, even hung out with him a few times in person. They talked often on the phone.

It's a tough one. We are all feeling very numb.

It's just a fantasy league, right?

But he was one of us.

And he was a good man.

We lost a leaguemate in the 9/11 attacks, and in two RJ leagues, SeaDogStat two years ago. It's terrible. Sorry for your loss.

I too empathize. We lost one of our founding members before this season began. Most of us have known him since 9th grade. He was our class president, class of 96, where are you! he would yell at pep rallies. He was young, but he had a brain aneurism several years ago and it took him years to recover. He ended up having a stroke and passing soon after, which I assume is related to his previous aneurism. He had four kids. It was a tough one.

My condolences. We lost a league mate a couple years ago and his brother is also in the league. He was only 41 too.
