NO BOB. Once again you are telling me what I think and feel. Once you do that then add in some insults it is no longer a debate. I have not played the martyr card, I have objected to your your immature way of discussion (because what you do is not debate).

In all these years, I have never lost a debate to you. I will say that you have changed my mind one time (regarding religion in schools) so if that is losing I will amend my statement to once. I will also add that you have had an influence on me, I have had to work extra hard to refute some of the blather that you have posted. This has made me stronger, not weaker.

I debated whether or not to post this next part. All the Glory goes to God. I truly pray for blessings for you and your family not to change you but to bless you. Not the Christian version of the middle finger "I'll pray for you". But the real thing.

For my part, I will continue to attack those positions of yours that I see as fundamentally flawed, preposterous, or encroaching upon the moral and civil liberties of all people-- pretty much everything you prattle on about here and espouse, come to think of it As for you not playign the martyr card, that might be a bit more believable if you didn't a) claim constantly to be in the process of being clawed by lions, b) smell faintly of burning wood and sackcloth and c), stopped whining about being bullied everytime you can't come up with a better response. I speak not only for myself when I say this but also encompass several others around here-- this is a little taste of the rhetorical big leagues, with debates on this board sometimes rivaling the stuff I've seen in DC, Albany, etc. Get some armor if you want to play, because for every time I say that something is ridiculous, preposterous, etc, others who spend a bit more time and care being deft call you, me and others much worse in ways that you seem to miss every time

Yeah, I agree. Sad turn of events. I used to think that I got some reasonable information in here that would help guide me in my decision making process. Not so much anymore.

I cannot believe that either side is all bad or all good. I would challenge either/both sides to say something positive about the other side. Not sure anyone would/could really do it.

I have definitely become more independent-minded since joining RJ...I can't say with certainty how much of that is due to the arguments presented in here or simply getting older.

I think the principle of fiscal responsibility is certainly a good one; it is based in conservatism but it is difficult to give credit to the Republicans when they had no problem when GWB was running up record deficits but now that a Democrat is in charge, reducing the debt is critical. There's one; sadly I'm not sure I could come up with another.

Our Father loves us. So yes he does care and it does make a difference. The glory/credit part is that I would rather pray for you than punch you in the face (relatively new/last 10 years behavior) The glory part is that while I would rather stoop to your methods I am trying not to. These are things that God is changing and I can't really take credit for. This whole last statement is NOT about you (and certainly not about me being better than you) but a testimony of Him changing me. My knee jerk response has not always been very Christ like. It still is not always Christ like but it is a lot better than it used to be and not as good as it is going to get. I am a work in progress.

The fact (and I only know this because you said it) that you hang around with other Bullies has no bearing on what goes on in here. Did it ever occur to you to present your case in a kind and thoughtful way? Or are you just interested in bullying people to silence? In the past you have been called out by people (who have disagreed with me) for your snarky tactics. These would be some of the same people who actually agree with some of your points. Just grow up a little.

The last pm I sent you was a number of years ago. It was regarding my daughter's prom date. I did not post it in here as I did not want it to appear as I was defending myself (or glorifying myself). It was to show you a small window into who I am. You did not respond. I assumed you either mistook the meaning of my email or was brushing me off. I decided to move on. Needless to say the experience wasn't very satisfying so I will decline to continue this on pm.

Lastly I am not the one that brought up persecution. I was responding to another poster. The rest of this is a response to your posts.

It is difficult when you have a set off values that everyone feels is the bane of society. We cannot all be pigeon-holed into the small box that the talking heads place us in all the time. What Gregg is saying is exactly what I attempted to say a few weeks ago. While I have never, ever felt persecuted as a Christian, I do find it to be very interesting and quite hypocritical that the moral left is so quick to call racism, misogyny, religious intolerance or bigotry on any one who disagrees with their viewpoints. They lump all people who disagree with them into an extremist group of whackos. Should "we" lump all liberals into a group the espouses crazy whacky crap on the left? Hell, we ought to change the name of the liberal left to "the liberal always right" because they are never wrong!!!

I have read many of Bhobs posts and found them to be enlightening, intelligent and well written, he has a bad habit of being a bully if he disagrees with you. It's a tactic of the liberal always right that is disturbing. If you say something they disagree with, they talk you down. If you still disagree they shout you down, and it keeps going until they scream you down. Facts be damned. The GOP is not innocent to this approach either, any stretch either, but I've found them to less convicted. The new liberal moral majority is not a happy group. Just watch the tripe that gets blown back at me for this post. I'll be accused of being party hack for Romney or Ryan or whomever opposes the left. This in spite of the fact that I'm completely disenchanted with the GOP. I'm lost as a voter. While I might have voted for Romney, my vote is strictly against the current administration, if I bother to vote at all. An I hate feeling that way! As an aside, I am a big fan of the Old Town School of Folk on Chicago's near north side. One of my favorite groups that often plays there are The Sons of the Never Wrong. While they've been around forever their name would be appropriate for either party.
