  • Woman suing the Cowboys

...and it isn't even for something good. She sat on a black marble bench in 101' weather and got burns requiring skin grafts.

    > The lawsuit claims there were no warnings about sitting on the benches in hot weather.

Really? She didn't know that a black rock would be hot on a sunny day? Amazing. I hope this gets laughed out of court.

hmm... I'm a somewhat smart guy, but I don't think I would think about the color of the bench before I sat on it... why would anyone design something to sit on that that you can't sit on when it's hot and sunny in texas?

I think she has case. If a bench can get that hot that requires skin grafts I think the Cowboys should liable and pay her bills and replace the benches so it doesn't happen to anyone else.

McDonalds has to put a warning on their coffee cups saying that it is hot after they lost the infamous lawsuit to the woman who spilled it and burned herself. So, i'm thinking the bench lady will see a nice payday.

Wait a minute, the Cowboys have BLACK MARBLE BENCHES? Seriously? Can the NFL just give us back some of our money, please?

If you dig into the details of the infamous McDonalds coffee lawsuit, it had a lot more merit than you might think.

The McDonalds suit had a lot going on besides just the obvious.

Other documents obtained from McDonald's showed that from 1982 to 1992 the company had received more than 700 reports of people burned by McDonald's coffee to varying degrees of severity, and had settled claims arising from scalding injuries for more than $500,000.[6] McDonald's quality control manager, Christopher Appleton, testified that this number of injuries was insufficient to cause the company to evaluate its practices

LOL. You guys make good points. I guess I just don't think like that. Of course, I know a lady who slipped on ice at a gas station and broke her angle. She got a VERY nice payday out of that one.

Interesting read. And I gotta say, McDonald's still serves their coffee too hot. I had breakfast there this week and I couldn't drink it for about 10 minutes.

You guys should watch the documentary called Hot Coffee, it talks about that McDonald's case and other frivolous cases and after watching it you see them as less frivolous. The woman in the McDonald's case wasn't asking for the millions she received (that number was decided by the jury), she simply wanted her medical bills paid and if you see the pictures of her legs you would think she deserves the money.

Good call. The wikipedia page says she initially asked for $20K and McD's offered her $800, so she hired a lawyer. In the end a jury awarded her $600K but they settled out of court.

From what I understand, her leg was in a protractor for months.
Considering his only baseball post in the past year was bringing up a 3 year old thread to taunt Hornsby and he's never contributed a dime to our hatpass, perhaps?
