Promising to do something, and not doing it for whatever reason is a far cry from blatantly lying about something repeatedly. Ryan was asked, repeatedly, about the stimulus, and he repeatedly lied about it. Even through there was a paper trail that would eventually be found. So I guess that I can add stupid on top of hypocritical lying fraud.

And when Mitt and company decide to get all nice and clean with their campaign, you let me know, will you?

So you addressed the Gitmo part, weakly at best IMO, but left out the other examples. As for “Promising to do something and then not doing it for whatever reason” not being a lie, I guess that is open for interpretation. We all interpret things in our own way. You see it as he has an apparently unknown yet excusable reason while I suspect others could see it as a lie. Opinions are Buttholes, we all have them!

And of course as soon as Romney cleans it up then Obama will. You mean like Romney asking his surrogates to not run Rev. Wright ads and stuff. I see so as usual, it’s a Republican problem. Talk about hypocrisy and, dare I say, stupidity!

My point is that if you think Ryan being caught in a lie, an innocuous one IMO, is a clear flaw in his personal character or unique to only Republican politicians in general, you should try to be more even minded and consistent in your outrage.

But that's OK, because you're wearing your Red, White, and Blue colored glasses, so looking past the superficial is kind of a difficult proposition. An innocuous lie? Really? Superficial! That's cute. So let's see, a congressman tries to get Federal money for his district, even though he voted against a bill that created those funds. He later denies that he asked for the funds. Conclusion: Liar of epic proportions. I guess I'd say that's kind of politics as usual.

It's a lot like saying "I'll close Gitmo as soon as I'm elected". Then once elected, nothing happens with Gitmo. Sort of like "Son, if you get good grades this semester I'll take you to a movie". Son works hard work, you know; getting Dad elected, donating money to Dad's campaign, gets the neighbors to the polling place so they can vote for Dad, putting signs up and pasting bumper stickers on his car saying what a great Dad he has, hope and change and all that, etc. Finally, when son comes home and delivers the goods with straight A's (getting Dad elected on the promises Dad made), Dad says, "Hey son, how about them Bears!" Your way of calling Ryan out was pretty judgmental and partisan, as I saw it. If you were just calling him out, why did you give your opinion on his character, a pretty strong one at that. And, by the way, I live in Chicago. Mitt's right! I am not the least bit offended. Chicago is a corrupt cease pool of politics and has been since the turn of the 20th century. And, Obama's response to Biden's remark was to brush it away by saying Mitt used the word "unshackle" first. Completely out of the context that Biden used "chains", but that's OK, that's not stretching the truth a bit. Don't let facts get in the way of a good story.

Not the same as your analogy at all. Obama did sign an executive order in 2009, to review the case of each detainee, move them out, and close the facility. But people in the U.S. were afraid of having these prisoners moved to prisons in the U.S., and Congress overwhelmingly voted against the bill. Obviously, Obama did not succeed on his promise, but he did sign the executive order, and he did get the bills voted on in both the House and Senate.

I agree and I knew it was a bad analogy when I offered it. The point I was trying to make is all politician are "lairs". But when someone gets so over themselves when a politician is caught is like getting excited when they learn the sun rises in the East. Its the same everyday! If you Google "Obama's lies", there are hundreds of whacko sites that log what they consider to be examples of Obama lying. To get goofy over the moon crazy when Ryan is caught is just silly.

After initially denying he had requested stimulus funds, GOP vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan has acknowledged that his office had sought the money for his Wisconsin congressional district and took responsibility for it.

“After having these letters called to my attention I checked into them, and they were treated as constituent service requests in the same way matters involving Social Security or Veterans Affairs are handled,” Ryan said in a statement late Thursday. “This is why I didn't recall the letters earlier.”
