It's a lot like saying "I'll close Gitmo as soon as I'm elected". Then once elected, nothing happens with Gitmo. Sort of like "Son, if you get good grades this semester I'll take you to a movie". Son works hard work, you know; getting Dad elected, donating money to Dad's campaign, gets the neighbors to the polling place so they can vote for Dad, putting signs up and pasting bumper stickers on his car saying what a great Dad he has, hope and change and all that, etc. Finally, when son comes home and delivers the goods with straight A's (getting Dad elected on the promises Dad made), Dad says, "Hey son, how about them Bears!" That's not a lie, it’s a diversion, or is it a misrepresentation, or is it a lie. Open for interpretation!

Your way of calling Ryan out was pretty judgmental and partisan, as I saw it. If you were just calling him out, why did you give your opinion on his character, a pretty strong one at that. And, by the way, I live in Chicago. Mitt's right! I am not the least bit offended. Chicago is a corrupt cease pool of politics and has been since the turn of the 20th century. And, Obama's response to Biden's remark was to brush it away by saying Mitt used the word "unshackle" first. Completely out of the context that Biden used "chains", but that's OK, that's not stretching the truth a bit. Don't let facts get in the way of a good story.

I agree and I knew it was a bad analogy when I offered it. The point I was trying to make is all politician are "lairs". But when someone gets so over themselves when a politician is caught is like getting excited when they learn the sun rises in the East. Its the same everyday! If you Google "Obama's lies", there are hundreds of whacko sites that log what they consider to be examples of Obama lying. After initially denying he had requested stimulus funds, GOP vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan has acknowledged that his office had sought the money for his Wisconsin congressional district and took responsibility for it.
“After having these letters called to my attention I checked into them, and they were treated as constituent service requests in the same way matters involving Social Security or Veterans Affairs are handled,” Ryan said in a statement late Thursday. “This is why I didn't recall the letters earlier.”
And, then the nerve of the guy to take responsibility for it! What an ass. Why take credit when you can blame someone else? New to national politics, I guess.
