Same thing with my cat ... one second at deaths door, out a small fortune on useless tests which only seemed to provide the vets with enough info to make speculations ... the next she's back to full fitness.

    Good news.

Wow, I missed all of this.

        Anyways, good to hear JJ.

My cat's been on 4 ccs/day for the last 3 years, she's doing pretty well. My other cat has ballooned though from eating the diabetic management cat food, which costs about 5x as much as normal food since they have a monopoly on it, f#**kers.

lol, i did take a gratuitous shot at sharptalons (not to compare you guys) too during my rampage. who then proceeded to show off his guns later. and even Frank never took that kind of shot because he knew. but he did PGP because he knew. so my guess is ST was in the military. you don't keep that kind of gun unless you were. unless im wrong.

you're ok johnny. but i thought you were being nice to me because you felt bad for making me go off that time.. heh.

this isn't real life tho. bunch of bull**** internet crap where everyone tries to work out their own issues... even tho this site is a lot more mature than others.

but i forget sometimes that this is just a baseball message board. i always thought it was weird the day that we invaded Iraq that everyone was talking about baseball. it's one of those things you wonder why or don't forget.

when you feed your cat thats not eating, use your finger to scoop the food from the can. and let you see them you do it. your smell will encourage them to eat.

ITC and I had some pets when we were kids. My first wife had a cat that I inherited and after it died, my son decided he wanted a cat. Personally, I dont really think I want any pets. I dont want to train a dog and I dont enjoy cleaning up after the cat..... so Im good.....

judge jude try feeding it NO sodium turkey. they sell it at the deli. they do where i am. it still has sodium but not very much. .40mg sodium per 2 oz. should eat it. also giving it fluids will help. it's not hard. it's only a needle. they don't even really feel it.

this was a good link i gave you. http://www.felinecrf.org/diabetes.htm

                            thanks, will try the turkey.
he's done pretty well for a couple of weeks now, but bringing him in today for a nutrients-fluid thing at the vet.
they said I could do it at home twice a week, but it looked too complicated and as I say he's done better.
key will be his weight; he nibbles at everything like gravy, sauce on top, but still doesn't swallow a lot of solid food itself...

Update: this feisty cat is still going 3 months after the original post, now has a better appetite and better luck swallowing although he barely maintains his 8-lb weight. He is aided by the fact that an older, ill family member is fond of him, so 'we put him down because he seemed like too much trouble' is not exactly the message we want to send right now!

Not thrilled with him awakening me by 6 am every day, but the 'yowl-ing' is gone, at least.

Now to his SISTER, who also just turned 15.
She's been going into the shared {covered} litter box of late - but standing backwards and peeing on the floor!
These are not 'angry' cats who do stuff like that to show whose boss, and mostly we haven't seen her do this. Plus why bother entering the box if you'll just pee outside it?
Box is clean, that's not an issue.
But said older family member has stayed with us this week, so.....

Anyone have this odd peeing issue with their cat?
Would it help to have them pee "topless," meaning without the cover?

One of mine did this... she just got too lazy to get all the way in the box. We fixed it by buying huge boxes (actually they were bins for mixing cement) and even then it wasn't always 100%. We put doggie piddle pads outside of the box. The cat is trying to do the right thing... it's just too tired/lazy to accomplish it anymore.
