    The Light turned yellow

The light turned yellow, just in front of him. He did the right thing,
stopping at the crosswalk, even though he could have beaten the red
light by accelerating through the intersection.

The tailgating woman was furious and honked her horn, screaming in
frustration, as she missed her chance to get through the intersection,
dropping her cell phone and makeup.

As she was still in mid-rant, she heard a tap on her window and looked
up into the face of a very serious police officer. The officer ordered
her to exit her car with her hands up..

He took her to the police station where she was searched,
fingerprinted, photographed, and placed in a holding cell.

After a couple of hours, a policeman approached the cell and opened
the door. She was escorted back to the booking desk where the
arresting officer was waiting with her personal effects.

He said, "I'm very sorry for this mistake. You see, I pulled up behind
your car while you were blowing your horn, flipping off the guy in
front of you and cussing a blue streak at him. I noticed the 'What
Would Jesus Do' bumper sticker, the 'Choose Life' license plate
holder, the 'Follow Me to Sunday-School' bumper sticker, and the
chrome-plated Christian fish emblem on the trunk, so naturally....I
assumed you had stolen the car."

Closest I ever came to getting killed on my motorcycle was when i was the first car there and just barely got out of the way as the car behind me flew through the light.

Will police harrassment of Wham! fans ever stop?

I wanted to add the picture. May it inspire you the next time you're thinking of offing yourself.

Honestly, I get that some people feel the need to stop at a yellow. (I don't agree with them, but that's my problem.) The problem is that driving decisions have an effect on everyone around you, not just on you. Not everyone realizes that. In fact, I would argue that many people don't.

In other words, if you're going to make a decision to stop at a yellow, you should consider not only how fast you're going and if you can stop safely, but all of these other factors:
-how fast is the car behind you going?
-does the car behind you have room to pass in another lane?
-is the driver behind you paying attention or are they distracted?
-how fast are you going in relation to the speed limit? (traffic light changes are timed based on the speed cars should be going)

I drive about 25k miles a year. I don't drive as defensively as others do, but I try to drive safely and I respect the right for other drivers to drive defensively. However, when you make driving decisions, they need to be as obvious as possible to the motorists around you. Start your braking as soon as possible. Use the turn signals that you presumably paid for when you purchased your vehicle. If you insist on driving below the speed limit, pull over so the line of cars behind you can pass, etc.

In other words, think when you drive!
"Igor, would you give me a hand with the bags?"
"Certainly. You take the blonde and I'll take the one in the turban!"

                              OK-

                              A tangental question.

In my state you are required by law to stop at a cross walk if a person enters it.

I can see how this makes sense and can easily be done where a speed limit is 25 MPH or less but not sure how someone going much faster can stop because a person stepped off the curb and A - not hit the pedestrian and B - not get rear ended
