Can You Name Every Band/ Musical Artist You've Seen Perform Live?

    It's impossible for me to do a complete list. The most brag-worthy:

    1. Led Zeppelin- 1977, MSG. I was 15, spent most of "Moby Dick" and "Achilles Last Stand" on my knees puking in a disgusting bathroom stall.
    2. Pink Floyd - 1977 MSG. Just three weeks later. The "Animals" tour.
    3. Pink Floyd - The Wall, 1980, Nassau Coliseum. No WAY was I missing that one. Paid an outlandish-at-the-time $40 for a ticket.
    4. Peter Gabriel - 1980, Secret fan gig at the tiny Hotel Diplomat on 47th St., my girlfriend and I met him afterwards in the hotel lobby and we talked for over 5 minutes. Nicest guy on earth, I still have the autographed ticket stub somewhere.
    5. The Clash - 1981, saw three of the seven famed Bonds Casino shows on Times Square. I also saw them the next year on the "Combat Rock" tour.
    6. Devo - 1980, Central Park. Record 103 degrees in the shade, sweltering... and officially the best concert I ever went to. Ask anyone else who was there.
    7. Jesus & Mary Chain, 1985(?), Danceteria (of all places). Their first US gig, Bobby Gillespie on drums. Played for about 20 minutes in front of about 20 people.
    8. Talking Heads, 1980 - Radio City Music Hall, "Remain In Light" tour.
    9. Rolling Stones, 1981 - Carrier Dome, Syracuse.
    10. Little Feat - 1977, The Beacon Theater. James Taylor and Carly Simon were sitting two rows in front of us, and they went up onstage to sing during the encore (extremely rare for Carly).

    For Mith... I saw Rush in 1977, "Farewell To Kings" tour. How's THAT for old school. Also saw them at least three other times, "Hemispheres", "Moving Pictures" tours. My brother was a fanatic.

    Multiples:
    Genesis: At least 10 times.
    Gabriel: 7-8
    Yes: 7-8
    Todd Rundgren: 5-6
    Pink Floyd: 4
    Cocteau Twins: 4
    Bowie: 3

    Punk/new wave era: Ramones, Gang Of Four, The Specials, New Order, Stranglers, Squeeze, Public Image ltd., Bow Wow Wow, The Cure, Dead Boys, Sugarcubes, Sex Pistols (reunion)

      I was 15, spent most of "Moby Dick" and "Achilles Last Stand" on my knees puking in a disgusting bathroom stall.
      By 1977 tour standards, that would have been about 30 minutes. Yikes!

        I did go see Larry Kirwan of Black 47 in February...did a book reading/few songs then a question and answer period.
        Considering his only baseball post in the past year was bringing up a 3 year old thread to taunt Hornsby and he's never contributed a dime to our hatpass, perhaps?

          Adding a couple legends to my list over the past month.

          George Clinton
          Crosby, Stills & Nash (tonight).
          If DMT didn't exist we would have to invent it. There has to be a weirdest thing. Once we have the concept weird, there has to be a weirdest thing. And DMT is simply it.

              This summer saw:

              Stone Roses
              Black Keys
              Florence and the Machine
              Rodrigo y Gabriel
              Foo Fighters

              The Stone Roses and Black Keys were on my "to do" list ... so they were welcome visitors. Black Keys were supporting the Foo Fighters, so I still want to see them headline. The Foo Fighters were good fun as expected. Rodrigo y Gabriel would be much better in an intimate venue IMO. I reckon Florence and the Machine will be pretty big one day soon ... she has quite the stage presence.

              Regret not going to see Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, because Jake Bugg was supporting.

              Still sucks not living near London ... cue The Specials' Ghost Town.

                  Indeed I did; for as long as they've been doing it both in their careers as well as this tour (since January), it was impressive how much energy they still have. My only disappointment was they didn't play my favorite song of theirs, 'Suite: Judy Blue Eyes'.

                    I am surprised (and would have been disappointed) that they did not play Suite:Judy Blue Eyes. I am glad that you had a good time. Where did you see them?

                        Right outside of Tucson, there's a nice outdoor amphitheater on the Pascua Yaqui reservation. Yes, it was very surprising to me too.

                          I rarely go to concerts anymore, and most of the "big" acts I saw in their prime are ones the younger generation wouldn't know of or care about. In the early and mid-1970s, I saw a lot of acts that later became famous, not because I was any great judge of talent but because they were often a cheap, entertaining way to spend time on a date.

                          My favorite may have been a 1975 concert at Xavier's Schmidt Fieldhouse, a 5,000-seat venue that arena-rock acts usually failed to scale down to--two unknown acts named Rush and Styx with Aerosmith as the headliner. Yeah, it was that long ago. In my OKC days, the best was the annual Grateful Dead gig at the Zoo Amphitheater.

                            REO and Styx played at our UW Whitewater Home Coming in the fall of 1975.

                                Black Keys tonight (in Phoenix), El Ten Eleven tomorrow, John Fogerty next week. Been on a live music binge, getting as much in before baby #2 arrives.
