Obama gave all the context need to explain his intent, so his words were indeed taken out of context.

Romney did not provide complete context, though it was most likely his intent that he meant the Mediterranean Sea, he did not say so. So there's really no "context" to draw from unless you're willing to fill in the blanks he left, which someone like me, can do, chooses to do as to get the "intent" of his words.

I'm surprised you let him off the hook so easily as you, Sheep, are the most literal poster here.

FWIW, Lewis Black hit on it the other night when he blasted both side for their BS, out of context, flat out Lies they've been using in their election ads.
I assume Romney said this line as part of a larger speech, or perhaps a debate response. That would be the complete context. It isn't Romney who failed to provide the complete context - it's the people posting that one line with cutesy graphics who are not providing the complete context.

It's obvious partisan bullsh!t on par with Rush Limbaugh pretending Obama said businessmen didn't build their own businesses. If you can't see that... I've got nothing else for you.
"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean - neither more nor less."
"The question is," said Alice, "whether you can make words mean so many different things."
"The question is," said Humpty Dumpty, "which is to be master - that's all."

I haven't seen or read Romneys speech--so I don't know that the context was there only what you posted--and Dude--I'm agreeing with you. I was arguing semantics.

Yes, I agree it isn't a big deal. I said in the beginning that I thought it was a simple mistake. I was just confused because you seemed to be saying it wasn't a mistake, but something taken out of context.

yet some are dumb enough to still think Obama's a Muslim.

Channeling Biden how? You may disagree about the impact of the Recovery Act, but the President's statement is certainly not a gaffe.

By their own metrics, the Recovery Act was an unqualified failure. Not by some Cato Institute measurement, or a GOP slant, or a Heritage paper - their own measurement has been used to measure success. And they failed. He can claim success by some hindsight driven metric (oh, we missed our unemployment goal by almost 2%, but hey, we saved the economy! And any problems are Bush's fault! Yeah, that's the ticket!).

Disagree. The goals of the stimulus were to prevent the economy from going into a recession (it didn't), and to save and create jobs (it created over 3 million). That is not an "unqualified failure".

You have to do some real gymnastics to come up with 3,000,000 jobs.
