it was an interesting twist. assuming a 111-point Laker tally, that would have been a $30 "free bet" win or lose on the $50 one.

so a gamble, unlike some of the other ones.

they had one with the Lakers +81, where if I bet $100, I'd win $1 if they only lost by 80.

but I got screwed once on a promo by their tech, my ineptness, or both - so I figured it wasn't worth even a tiny risk to win a buck.

ok, took a bigger risk this time:

Collin Morikawa - the 23-year-old recent PGA Championship major winner - to go top 10 in a 69-player field in the second round of the PGA Tour playoffs this weekend.

After a long cold streak had me down to only up $130 I hit on two baseball bets last night. Took the Nats +1.5 using 100% prfoit boot on DK that had to be used in a parlay of at least 3 legswith the Rockets ML and Dodgers ML, those games didn't happy so I got 100% profit boost on a single outcome the max bet was $25 but I did that and turned $25 into $56.

Then I had a free $8 bet and used that live in game on a 3 team parlay. Got the A's at +155 the Rockies at +125 and the Cards at -103. Now I guess I have to like the Cards since they managed to come back from down 3 in the bottom of the 9th to win, thanks Royals bullpen. Took my free $8 bet and turned it into $82. Back up around 260 now so plenty of money for me to keep low level betting

top 10 right now is +2, and CM is up from T-58th to T-46th, pending lots of golf left

probably doomed but:

- ideally the wind picks up now, driving up later scores.

- ideally it's quiet again Sun AM, and then gets tougher later.

- the majority of players ahead of him either have no shot at reaching next weekend's "top 30" finale, so little to play for.

- some ahead of him are grizzled vets who have clinched a spot in the Championship, so a little to play for based on the new format.

- CM has clinched, too, but he's just a kid so might be more focused on a strong finish.

Morikawa shoots a combined -4 on the weekend to finish at +5.

as it happens, -4 for 72 holes would have given him a share of first place and a spot in the playoff with Rahm and DJ.

he leaped forward 18 places on Sunday for a 5-way tie for T-20th.

so if I took my usual top 20 bet, I'd have won some money on my $54 free bet (though not close to $54).

I tried to double up on a top 10 - and paid the price. ok I didn't pay anything because it was a free bet.

so WFAN sports talk radio in the NY/NJ market now has a daily half-hour betting show every weeknight at 6 pm.

interesting because currently, the majority of its listeners live in NY, and they would have to drive several hours north to a tribal casino to place a legal bet in the state. no mobile betting, and the 4 new commercial casinos - including the nearest one in the Catskill Mountains - remain closed.

now, anyone in NYC can take a bus, train or Uber (you likely won't own a car unless you're well off) to just over the border to NJ and bet legally on their smartphones. a few even bike or walk halfway across the GW Bridge - geolocation knows when you have crossed the border, and your betting becomes allowed.

but obviously, the largest sports station in the US is blatantly catering to a massive and still thriving illegal market - which I find interesting.

if you suspect that starting out 'dabbling' might lead down a bad path - NO DABBLING!

also, follow the instructions carefully. you should see a box where the offer is confirmed just before you place the bet.

if you think you actually bet without having the extra points, contact DK right away and in a couple of days they would probably be willing to void the bet - unless you're in the habit of gambling 50 bucks on single games, I suppose.

FanDuel running a promo on the Rams-Cowboys game. For every 5,000 who bet on the Rams at -110, the line will move 1 pt. Currently it’s Rams +7. I’ll wait until I see at least +13 to plunk down $50 on them.

They’re also running a promo on the Notre Dame-Duke game. Bet either side and get $6 in site credit for every TD they score.
