Streaming music to wireless speakers

Need some help-- my iPod dock died the other day and I'm thinking I would rather be able to stream my iTunes library and Pandora, etc from my PC to speakers around the house. Any thoughts on good, cost-effective gear to do this with? Do I have any special requirements from my computer I need to fill? What quality of sound should I expect at different price levels? I've seen decent reviews of the Sony Altus 32 speakers, but haven;t really had time to look in-depth at anything yet.
