Nothing involving the hair of the dog that bit me...he left sometime during the night to join ISIS.

Holy crap, you and Jack really did have a serious meeting last night!

I tried some fancy stuff in my younger days, but tea and Tylenol worked just as well. Don't take anything that'll tax your liver (ibuprofen, Aleve, so on). Stick to something easy to digest if your stomach isn't too upset.

Lots of tea and/or water are tops, IMO.

Tons of water, coffee, and a nap if you can swing it.

I've also heard Pedialite helps, but I've never tried it.

Three steps, but only works the night before:

        1) Take 3 aspirin

        2) 20 minutes on an exercise bike

        3) Puke until my nose bleeds

Considering his only baseball post in the past year was bringing up a 3 year old thread to taunt Hornsby and he's never contributed a dime to our hatpass, perhaps?

The tea, tylenol and dry toast is helping. Time for a little nap.

If that doesn't work, I'm going to go with a little Toradol and Phenergran.

I was going to suggest dry toast.

I use preventative measures so next time drink a glass of lemon water before going to sleep and take 2 Aleve. Also sleep with a cool mist humidifier and another glass of water next to your bed. Staying hydrated is the key to avoiding feeling like shit the next morning.

As for today? Suck it up buttercup.

when i was younger and drank quite a bit more, i actually spent some time researching this. there are real articles i could send you if you're interested, but the bottom line is that the following combination might help:
water (lots of it - alcohol dehydrates you something fierce)
sports drink (lots of it - replaces ions and sugars)
NAC (N-acetyl-cysteine - an amino acid supplement that helps control free radicals)
vitamin C (more free radical combat)
TMG (trimethylglycine - a methyl donor; sometimes called Betaine)
B vitamins (a normal B supplement has most of what you need)

if you can stand it, hair of the dog might help. there's a real medical reason for it - it makes the liver switch from breaking down methanol to breaking down ethanol. you might have a mini-hangover later, but i found that sometimes it would take that pounding "edge" off of a really bad hangover. i don't really recommend it though except in the most drastic cases.

you probably won't have access to NAC or TMG, but probably will to the others. you can find plenty of places that you can buy NAC and TMG from.

FWIW, i would never take tylenol either when drinking or to help with hangover. tylenol is mostly broken down in the liver (eventually to harmless compounds). when your liver is working on breaking down the alcohol, it can't properly break down the tylenol, and can actually produce toxic compounds which cause liver damage (or failure in the worst cases). every medical report i've ever read says to take ibuprofen, aleve, or plain old aspirin instead. 800 mg of ibuprofen is my choice.

oh, one source of TMG, if you don't have any around in pill form, is eggs. if you have enough of an appetite (often not the case with hangover, but...), then having as many eggs as you care to eat is a good source of TMG.

so that explains why a heap of greasy bacon n eggs goes so well the morning after ... interesting.
It certainly feels that way. But I'm distrustful of that feeling and am curious about evidence.

yeah, it's one of those things that seems like an old wives tale, but has a grain of truth to it.

Thanks for all the advice. Fortunately, I only need it a couple of times a year.
