  • Wow! This looks tense and action packed!

    • Run All Night - was expecting another run of the mill Liam Neeson action thriller, but this is a bit better than that. The action is great, and very well executed ... and Ed Harris always adds something. Enjoyed this one. Would recommend.

      • Picked up The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Pt 1. Without having read any of the books, I thought the first movie was great; the second one a virtual copy of the first; and then I don't exactly know what the heck happened in this episode. Suddenly, it became a soap opera where most of the movie is the characters sitting around chatting or watching TV monitors. Boooooooooooring! Most definitely un-exceeelent.

LOL ... I have the exact opposite view of this series. IMO each successive movie has improved on the previous ... really liked the last installment.

I thought the first was meh at best and haven't bothered seeing any since.
If DMT didn't exist we would have to invent it. There has to be a weirdest thing. Once we have the concept weird, there has to be a weirdest thing. And DMT is simply it.

              • The Water Diviner. Quite disappointing. Corny, cliche ridden, overly sentimental. BTW the Ottomans were the good guys ... that's right, the Ottomans ... good guys.

they both do... revo just likes the crazy huge boobs and eld prefers something a bit more subtle.

Fletch notwithstanding, I didn't think we were that off. Post your top 10-15 favorites and let's see where we stand. And you did post earlier in this thread that you liked the second installment better than the third.

Here's my faves minus Fletch, in no particular order:
                      - Saving Private Ryan
                      - Goodfellas
                      - Gladiator
                      - Inception
                      - The Usual Suspects
                      - Raiders of the Lost Ark
                      - Back to the Future
                      - Reservoir Dogs
                      - No Country for Old Men
                      - Gangs of New York
                      - Animal House
                      - Airplane!
                      - The Blues Brothers
                      - Letters from Iwo Jima
                      - Stripes

Can't go wrong with those! If I were to make a Top 20 list, a bunch of those would make it (Goodfellas, Unsual Suspects ... maybe Inception) ... haven't made a list like that in years.

                          • Pulp Fiction actually slipped down my (non-existent) list after seeing it on it's 20th anniversary release. First time I'd seen it start-to-finish since the 90's and it seemed a bit too slick. Still be easily Top 20 though.

That's happened with me with a few movies, especially as I introduce my sons to them and re-watch them. 'Rocky,' which I was excited to re-watch with my boys, turned out to be a racist snoozer. I knocked 'A Fish Called Wanda' and 'Planes, Trains & Automobiles' down a notch after seeing them again.

OTOH, like DMT mentioned, I really liked 'The Thin Red Line' after seeing it a 2nd time.
