it'll be like Sweden sort of before they realized they had to do more for older citizens. ..i'll make a prediction, the virus isn't really going to go away until a vaccine, and the battlegrounds will be nursing homes and care facilities.
i'll give you a word of caution, George Floyd had been previously diagnosed with C-19 and after recovering still had it in his system 18 days when he died. they say it's just viral fragments still clearing your system, but there is a very small chance it stays at low levels and since it's new we can't be sure how long, even if it is asymptomatic. even if it does clear it can have long lasting health effects, especially for people needing to be hospitalized. loss of kidney function, lung capacity, cardiovascular disease. etc..
this is the future we are embarking on. we still need to social distance and be careful around people over 60.
the people in their 50's will just have to hope 3.6 mortality isn't themselves. because we're fucked. heh
Since I am in my 60's I would prefer that those 50 and under would not infect me. I do not think we are close to done with this. People seem to be very careless in this opening process. I am no more or less at risk with an open society than I was in March. I certainly am more nervous.

It's easier to hide from friends and family so you can get in deep without raising early alarms like substances and it's easier to self justify as a win here or there can obscure the damage being done.
Gambling starts as a mental/phycological issue that can in some cases, bring about physical health issues--Substances affect both from beginning to end and so the destruction/outward issues are quick to manifest and allow those addicts to get help sooner--Gamblers usually wait much longer to seek/get help.
Now not every person who gambles is going to become an addict and there's different tiers of the addiction/problem so a mild addiction isn't going to be particularly destructive, kind of like occasional substance use--Thing is, Most Problem Gamblers/Addicts have a dual addiction, usually coupling with substance/alcohol which can really exacerbate both additions. If I whisper my wicked marching orders into the ether with no regard to where or how they may bear fruit, I am blameless should a broken spirit carry those orders out upon the innocent, for it was not my hand that took the action merely my lips which let slip their darkest wish. ~Daniel Devereaux 2011

I am way too logical to gamble (and don't like to risk/lose) - my brother is a brilliant CTO/CFO type plays poker but he wins and has played in WSOP main event almost free through low buy ins - I think he started out with $100 buy in, won satellite tournaments, and they paid for his trip, spending, and some cash - so I am not sure to consider it gambling or a second job (he makes money at it) -he also was a national ranked chess and bridge player
I explain casinos to my middle schoolers as the claw machine - you can win, might have fun, but you really are likely going to lose and when you win is costs you more than you put in- they understand that
I am sure that you have long article, if not a book in you, explaining the culture/psyche of gambling

Washington state has the highest number of new daily cases since early April. I suspect that will be the trend nationwide if it isn't already.---------------------------------------------

Some states have seen their cases surge dramatically.
Alabama: June 4th saw its highest cases ever recorded, 750
Arizona: averaged about 200-300 cases daily, just saw its two highest case loads with 1579 & 1119 cases each of the last two days
Arkansas: 2nd highest ever on June 4 with 450
Florida: June 4th saw its highest level ever with 1419
Mississippi: highest ever was June 3rd with 570
New Mexico: highest ever was June 5th with 319
North Carolina: the last three days were each of its highest ever -- 1189, 1289, 1370
North Dakota: June 6th was in its Top 5
South Carolina: the seven days with its most cases were ALL last week
Tennessee: had its 2nd highest case total on June 2nd with 821
Texas: had 3 of its highest case totals in the last week, with June 6th being its highest daily ever with 1920
Wisconsin: had its highest ever case total on May 29
It should be noted many states are seeing a massive decrease, and it's very easy to see why that is. "More testing" is becoming the latest GOP defense to minimize, and that certainly cannot explain why northern states have seen dramatic decreases. And we'll see in a week or so how these protests affected totals.
