This is an excellently made video. Really, really well done. I'm afraid I don't recognize that one younger brunette on Ari Melber's Fallback Friday segment--she comes off like a cool pile of puke. Not a likable person.

They're starting to matter a bit more. I said months ago that the polls wouldn't start to matter until after around October. Now I believe the 5th debate in November will be even more crucial, as we could see the field narrow from 12 down to 7 or 8 as the requirements to qualify get tougher.

I prefer talking about issues rather than polling, but nobody around here gives much of a shit, so I give in. Horserace it is.

I do wish we would have more issue based discussion in this thread. I've stated before, Bernie's ideology, if fully implemented in every way, concerns me. I can't bring myself to abandon capitalism and embrace socialism to the extent Bernie does, and he is so black or white on some issues I think sometimes require more case-by-case consideration, especially on international issues. I find myself aligned more with Warren, who I know you think doesn't go far enough (to put it mildly).

But I will say about Bernie, no one should ever question his passion or compassion. The man has been a consistent champion of progressivism for decades, and recently he has almost single-handedly shifted the entire Democratic platform to the left. Regardless of whether he lasts in this race, his impact will be felt, and unlike in 2016, I will bet every candidate will be asking themselves how their ideas and messaging will play with Bernie and his followers.

ETA: When I think of the legacy Bernie will leave behind vs Trump, there are few clearer contrasts between a person who dedicated his life to trying to help others vs a self-serving garbage person. I know it shouldn't matter to me as much as it does, but even though I disagree with Bernie on issues, I'd be proud of a man of his caliber being in the WH. Such a contrast in decency from the man in their now.

They have to, they cannot afford to alienate them again so I think they won't. That obviously doesn't hold true for the DNC and some of HRCs media honks, they blame Bernie and the Bernie Bros as they call em, for HRCs loss rather than placing the blame where it belongs.

Those on the left still smarting from HRCs loss better get the fuck over it soon or they'll be looking at 4 more years of Trump.

Like him or not, want him as the POTUS or not, you'd better (and I say that to whomever on the left that is denigrating him) treat him fairly or run the risk of history repeating itself.

As a sanders supporter, I believe he HAS been treated fairly this time around and that those in the video bashing him are outliers.

Of course that could all change if he pulls into the lead poll wise.

In the spirit of the hot topic forum, this is a good post. I am not sure I agree with silly polls part. I do agree that the Dems need to focus on unifying and getting the best candidate if they want to win the next election.

Hot "topics" is one thing, and I can understand why everyone is free to discuss any topic with any level of passion, that's sort of the point of the hot topic board. As long as the passion is directed at the topic. But is there a reason why we have to put up with that kind of "suck your own dick" garbage? Or suggestions that someone's loved one be sexually assaulted? Really??

As noted recently, one side of the argument has basically left, which makes the discussion less interesting. Why are we encouraging that?

I agree. It saddens me any time I see things like this here. I have to give GITH credit for trying to fight this impulse of his to lash out with personal vitriol once Revo gave him the Mod title. For the most part, he has taken the high road, but then a few times, the anger has come out and we have posts like this that should not be coming from a MOD. Not good for the community.

Seems like a pretty big overreaction GITH. Looking at what Art wrote, it reads fairly benignly. He criticizes Revo’s poll posting. I like seeing the polls, but I guess Art doesn’t. Hardly a big thing. He says the polls were wrong in 2016. Hard to argue with that. He predicts Trump will win again....lot of Democratic leaning media pundits and Democrats believe that is very possible as well. It’s not a fact, just a prediction. And he takes a shot at the investigations that have been going on since the Inauguration. I’m sure that prickles you a bit, but it’s a fairly common belief amongst Republicans and right leaning folks. Plus, it’s exactly what this forum is for....opposing viewpoints and thoughts.

I disagree it was a good post. I do agree that Art did not deserve the personal attack from GITH, and all GITH did was validate for Art what he probably thinks of the looney left--that they are not interested in hearing opposing viewpoints and shut down those they oppose with insults and threats. But I don't think Art's post was a good one, because it dismisses polling data instead of refuting it, and it suggests that the critiques against Trump are invented, despite the overwhelming evidence they are not in the form of Trump's own words and actions. Frankly, it is typical of Trump supporter posts here since Chance left.

In rightly pushing back against the vitriol in these forums from the left, I think we go too far in saying that thoughtful and substantive arguments on the right are being silenced--posts like this one from Art are not substantive. Trump supporters on here like Art and 1jay rarely post any substantive information that challenges the echo chamber in here. They post unfounded opinions that sometimes seems aimed at poking the admitted SJWs here. The only unabashed Trump supporter that consistently brought actual, substantive claims backed up by evidence was Chance. I disagreed with him passionately on basically everything he believed, but I respected that he would be clear and specific with his claims, and back them up. I have not seen that from any other Trump supporter here.

As I say above, GITH has tried to fight his baser instincts lately, but they are still there. Beyond an apology, I hope he can see that the mantle of MOD isn't one suited for him. I mean, we talked about this with the LEO thread--some people don't have the proper temperament for such power. GITH, you have a brother who is a LEO, right? I bet he comes in contact all the time with people who treat him like crap and do and say bad things. But he has to restrain himself. That is what MODs are supposed to do. I am still unclear on what triggers you. I have seen some pretty inflammatory posts here that have gotten TW or someone else riled up and you have stepped in to be the voice of calm and reason. How come you could be the dude calling for calm and dialogue one day but then blow up so quick and overthetop the next? You seem to go from 1 to 10 pretty quick, is I guess my point.

Also, when you get personal like this, it invites responses in kind. If someone wished harm on my family, I'm gonna get baited, and I'm gonna curse and scream. If Art responded in kind, wouldn't it make you madder, and then back and forth and so on, and to what end?
