Wow, glad it took his converted Jewish daughter to finally garner some kind of a response out of this anti-Semite.

Ok, so help me out here: a few years ago Republicans and their constituents hated Obamacare, but now that they want to kill it, the constituents are just now realizing that by eliminating it, they're going to lose their health insurance?? Is this like some strange joke?

Anyone have a better source on this?

Honestly, and this is quite sad, many people didn't even realize that the ACA and Obamacare were the same thing. They liked the ACA, it was Obamacare that they were brainwashed to hate.

Now the GOP has the horrible job of trying to rebuild a program from scratch, instead of just tweaking something that was working, not great, but working. I'm sure that they'll keep some of the more popular provisions, but it's still going to leave a LOT of people uninsured while they get something up and running.

It's the tried and true strategy of Republicans to dupe their supporters into voting in direct opposition of their own interests. You would think they'd learn, but the GOP are such master manipulators of the media that they continue to succeed in their deceptions.

You mean something like what Dems have done with Urban minoritiy groups for 50 plus years.

That strikes me as a knee jerk bit of snark Bernie. Care to flesh out your posting, what have "Dems have done with Urban minoritiy groups for 50 plus years". By the way, a prior question was why would someone want to spend millions of dollars to get a job that pays 400k a year. The answer is hopefully because the person really has a calling to try to do great things for the country. Jimmy Carter is a million years old, and in relative obscurity has for more than 30 years been helping with his own hands in building houses for the poor with Habitat for Humanity. It is simply living up to the Democratic ideal of building the safety net for the poor and disenfranchised.

Obama was not seeking to expand his wealth or political influence by pushing for health coverage for all americans. He fought hard to get ACA in place, forces conspired to make it a bit of a train wreck, but still, we have fewer uninsured in country than ever before in our history. Or that he reversed the Bush torture policies, err enhanced interrogation, that had zero profit motive, it was about trying to do right thing. . I should ignore the auto response that I hear all the time, virtually every time, of so you think Republicans are bad, Dems are same, they do it too, as if we really are balanced with both parties looking out for poor, minorities, and disenfranchised with same treatment, same goals.

Yes similar. But as I said earlier, the Democrats' hypocrisy regarding poverty is shameful but their efforts to help the poor are orders of magnitude higher than the Republicans. So they are not morally equivalent IMO, not even close.

My wife has two friends and both have complained that Obamacare sucks because their children recently turned 26 and can't be covered under their insurance any longer. My wife told them that because of Obamacare they were able to insure them this long, before Obamacare they would have been on their own for a few years. Neither friend wanted to hear it, Obamacare just sucks because their kids couldn't be covered any longer and we need to get rid of it.

why does a 25 yr old need to be on his parents insurance?

I never go to the doctor for anything (a hold over to never having health insurance as a kid, and just never getting into the habit), but when I was in grad school, we had no insurance coverage as TAs/graduate workers. It wasn't till I left that they finally got insurance. While it didn't matter much to me, I had colleagues who needed to be on their parent's insurance for essential coverage, and many struggled that didn't have coverage. Many of my peers back then chose not to have kids because of lack of coverage (the ones married to other grad students without any insurance). The University I work at now does provide coverage for graduate workers, and many more go to the doctor to stay healthy, and more seem to have kids while in grad school (it is still financially hard, and my wife and I wouldn't have done it even if we had insurance, but health wise, we should have had kids back then rather than now, and I am happy the grad students I work with have that option).
