Well, she would certainly make Rand Paul happy, as they share a love of his namesake, and she despises socialism enough, but I do not see him apppointing a black woman to the SC, especially one who has lamented that we have a "debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible." I mean, that is his whole wheelhouse. He would not want a judge who disapproves of such things.

    • The great civil rights icon John Lewis died yesterday, and the racist in the WH has yet to acknowledge it. If somehow you didn't think he was a racist before, you have to be completely blind to not think it now.

Even if he made a statement that he doesn't care one iota about Lewis dying and hates all black people...45 percent of the country would still defend the fact that he isn't a racist as if he was their first born.

        • I've been pleased with the decisions in the south china sea recently. sending 2 aircraft carriers when China was conducting military drills near Taiwan islands and made statements like maybe we'll take them. and then formally rejecting China's claims outright was unexpected but welcomed. we have a mutual defense treaty with Philippines. we have a secret mutual defense treaty with Taiwan, we have special relationships with Japan and Australia. this is called living up to your obligations during a time of crises. US Military has made a solid decision and directed attention to where it's been more needed for while. not sure i'd give Trump credit here but someone knows what they are doing in the south china sea. and you have Japan doing interoperability drills with countries like Malaysia and Australia. Japan's navy is the most integrated navy with us, like a dragon with two heads and one body. that's a good navy. they're becoming more offensive. longer range for defense. and what Japan helps Australia with, Australia signs naval defense pacts with India.

China is in a weak spot. the fear was that the ASEAN nations Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam would form alliances. as together they would out number China.

our navy of 60 years ago could defeat China's current navy. if a country wants to exert pressure of might makes right on their neighbors, it's a bigger dog's right to say woof.

like at it from an average persons perspective though. a great leap forward. a lot of nationalism is based on grievance. but after you get there everyone always wants more. once you get some economic security, health, technology, but if you don't really have true freedom, freedom is innate. everyone wants it. Communism has failed. you think you can make a internet firewall around the biggest modern country in the world and suppress information? it's impossible. Capitalism may not be ideal, and as Winston Churchill once said America tries everything else wrong before she does it right, but it's better than Communism.

when China complained about the 2 aircraft carriers our military responded by saying, and yet there they are, sailing lawfully in international waters and not intimidated. thankfully and obviously there are many adults around Trump right now advising him correctly on issues in the South China Sea.

that doesn't mean you don't have to be careful. China is a paper tiger because we helped it to happen. and she's wounded. which makes her dangerous. I would hope Biden would support the same military positions but i have my doubts. it also doesn't really have to be our fight if everyone else steps up with help. if China has worldly ambitions. i don't really understand communism.

it wasn't wrong for our politician's and so-called job creators to sell out to China. it was more inevitable. sometimes i wonder if McCarthyism was right, he just had the wrong timeline and country. but that would be applying the Past to the Present. that would be applying the values of today to the values of yesterday.

            • AND now 45 is going to use an executive order to send more Federal troops to various cities even if the local Govt doesn't want them.

If they come to San Diego, I might have to go down and greet them GITH style.

                • Well, I guess if you are a Trump fan, you can spin this as he doesn't abandon his friends, but it is still strange to see him wish Ghislaine Maxwell well: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/crime...PXd?li=BBnbfcL

“I just wish her well, frankly,” Trump, 74, said. “I've met her numerous times over the years, especially since I lived in Palm Beach. I guess they lived in Palm Beach, but I wish her well. Whatever it is."

Maxwell was arrested a year after Epstein, a registered sex offender, was arrested on sex crimes charges accusing him of abusing dozens of underage girls. In August 2019, Epstein died by suicide while in jail.

Trump had once been friendly with the late Epstein, previously calling him a “terrific guy” in a 2002 New York Magazine interview.

Later in the article, we are reminded of Trump's admiration of Epstein specifically in relation to his proclivity for women on "the younger side." Given how far Trump runs from associates when they fall out of favor, including how he tried to distance himself from Epstein when his crimes were revealed, it is surprising that he still supports his old pal Ghislaine here.

“I’ve known Jeff for 15 years. Terrific guy. He’s a lot of fun to be with,” Trump said then. “It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it — Jeffrey enjoys his social life.”

Is Clinton defending her too? I wasn't trying to suggest he was the only one with ties to her and Epstein. I was just pointing out how surprising it is he still admits to knowing her. He is the guy who says he never met people who ran his campaign as soon as they are revealed to be corrupt. Very unusual behavior for him or any politician was my point. It struck me as really out of character, and politically dangerous for him...of course, his poll numbers are so bad, I guess he doesn't care anymore.

                            • A startling quote that shows how The Clown only cares about half the country -- and only their voting power, at that:

“The movement of Covid into the South and West has finally caught up with Trump,” said Linda L. Fowler, a professor of government at Dartmouth College. “While the disease was decimating blue states, he was able to pretend it wasn’t happening. But now the context has changed considerably and his people are hurting, underscored by the sinking poll numbers, the problems for G.O.P. congressional candidates, and the fact that the party faithful was reluctant to attend the convention.”
President Trump’s cancellation of the convention in Florida and sudden embrace of masks may signal his acceptance of a political landscape transformed by the pandemic.

                                Ironic twist:
One of the founding members and advisors to the Lincoln Project, which is a conservative Super PAC, is George Conway, the husband of Kellyanne Conway, who is counselor to President Trump.
