If so, I'm sure there are some who might find that a valid claim.

He’s just such a jackass. The country elected a carnival barking con man (which New Yorkers already knew he was) because people wanted more conservative judges and people hated Hillary. I got roped into a Facebook debate yesterday with friends of a friend who were calling Trump the “family values” candidate. But that just goes to show you how far the cult of Trump has gone. The twice-divorced, serial philanderer who banged a porn star (sorry, allegedly banged a porn star) while his wife was home with their young child is the “family values” candidate.
If you support a Trump because you think his economic policies are better, fine. I’ll disagree but at least that’s a debate we can have.
If you support him because you think he will appoint judges that are more in line with your beliefs, fine. I disagree with you, but at least that’s a debate we can have.
What gets me the most is these people who have deified Trump and say this guy is the “family values” candidate when he probably couldn’t even pick Tiffany out of a lineup. Or the people who criticize Biden for his word salads as if you can even understand what the hell Trump is trying to say half the time. The cult of Trump is incredible. He’s actually convinced people that he’s a good and selfless person who is only acting out of love for country and not ego or for his own personal benefit.

His WaPo article his behind a paywall, so I'll link to an article about his article: https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/02/polit...ump/index.html
There are more conservatives coming out against Trump, which I find heartening. But few statements have been as biting and possibly impactful as George Will's call to not just oust Trump, but his call to oust all the Trump-supporting GOPers. That is what I've been saying would be best for the party since Trump was elected. But I'm not George Will. My understanding is he is a highly respected voice on the right. Am I wrong? Will he be yet another conservative labeled a traitor, with voters picking Trump over yet another establishment figure decrying Trumpism? I'd love to hear from conservatives on here about their thoughts on the weight of Will's words, and why Trump supporters continue to not listen to voices they have long listened to and respected? Why do they keep picking Trump over any and all others?
Will they have an impact? Sure, he was against Trump from the start, and it didn't stop him from being elected, but this is taking it to another level, it seems. To me, they represent a courageous move to pick country over party. I hope it is heard on the right as such, but I fear he will be vilified as a traitor or snitch, because the GOP seems to operate as police forces, where voices of integrity are silenced in the name of protecting the shield at all costs.
"In life's unforgiving arithmetic, we are the sum of our choices. Congressional Republicans have made theirs for more than 1,200 days. We cannot know all the measures necessary to restore the nation's domestic health and international standing, but we know the first step: Senate Republicans must be routed, as condign punishment for their Vichyite collaboration, leaving the Republican remnant to wonder: Was it sensible to sacrifice dignity, such as it ever was, and to shed principles, if convictions so easily jettisoned could be dignified as principles, for ... what? Praying people should pray, and all others should hope: May I never crave anything as much as these people crave membership in the world's most risible deliberative body."Last edited by Sour Masher; 06-07-2020, 11:42 AM.

Colin Powell endorses Joe Biden for President, and with that the Baby in Chief got his diapers all poopy:
“Colin Powell, a real stiff who was very responsible for getting us into the disastrous Middle East Wars, just announced he will be voting for another stiff, Sleepy Joe Biden. Didn’t Powell say that Iraq had ‘weapons of mass destruction?’ They didn’t, but off we went to WAR!,” Trump wrote on Twitter shortly after Powell appeared on CNN.
