He can be paternalistic in sometimes grating ways, as with the soda legislation. I'm okay with paternalistic nudges (e.g., charging a $0.05 environmental tax for a plastic straw or a plastic bag at the grocery store, or a "sin tax" on cigarettes), but I generally don't like bans.

Trump exaggerates, is this a surprise? I dont see this as bad news, NK is doing as expected until an agreement is reached.

I will confess to liking Bloomberg a lot, but the soda thing really annoys me.

So let's just give him a pass for everything because he's an exaggerating/lying blowhard who doesn't take the job seriously?

My sentiments exactly. I do worry that Bloomberg would lose as many libertarian-minded folks, and hard left socialists folks as he'd gain moderates. But really, I don't know. I'd like to hear from the hard-core Bernie supporters on here (any left--Feral Slasher and?) about whether they'd support Bloomberg if he were the nominee, or if they think it would be a mistake to go for an ex-Republican, fiscal conservative, but social liberal. If he can get even some of the Bernie voters that didn't support Hillary, he could be a really strong candidate.

BTW, that was a good line/jab at Bloomberg SS. That sort of big-brother paternalism would definitely be something Bloomberg would have to be able to address to win, if he runs.

His love of bans probably wouldn't come into play in a presidential role, but still... ugh. I don't like that authoritarian style, particularly at the federal level. Hopefully he'd recognize that presiding over an entire country would require a different mindset than presiding over a liberal city.

"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean - neither more nor less."
"The question is," said Alice, "whether you can make words mean so many different things."
"The question is," said Humpty Dumpty, "which is to be master - that's all."

No lets post stupid comments that are about as intelligent as Trump so 30 people can see it. No pass given!

Can you wait until the talks fail before saying how bad its going?

Could he get through the primary? He's waaaaaay too moderate even if he's left of center. He will look like a republican up there next to the RESIST!™ brigade.

Where did I say how bad it was going? Just that North Korea is continuing activities that appear to show that no, it's business as usual there, in direct contrast to the guy who is SUPPOSED to know. But wait, he befuddled his base, who think all is going swimmingly or has even ended already. How naive.

                      no one here thinks that.

That's great, but over 250,000 either liked or shared his inane and naive tweets declaring that the North Korean threat was over.

So less than .5% of the people Voted for him liked or shared an inane tweet of his? Shocking

Well, if 250k retweet something that probably represents a much bigger portion of people who also believe it. So, .5% isn't a fair number in terms of people buying the rhetoric.

250k votes would be far more than necessary to decide the 2016 and 2000 elections, so yeah, it greatly matters when the President is trying to purposely deceive and brainwash his base.

Yep, he’s the first President to ever try and spin his foreign diplomacy in a positive light. On a side note—how are things in Syria and Libya today?
