  • Pistons' record losing streak

The Detroit Pistons tied the NBA record for most consecutive losses in a season on Saturday. They have lost 26 in a row, which ties the streak of the 2010-11 Cleveland Cavaliers and the 2013-14 Philly.Sixers. The all-time record is 28 straight losses set by the Sixers over 2 seasons from 2014-15 thru 2015-16. They'll go for the single-season record outright when they play the Nets tonite.

And now they hold the record outright after tonite's loss. They'll go for tying the all-time record Thursday vs. the Celtics.

The Diamondbacks have won a game more recently than the Pistons.

And they lost to the Celtics yesterday tying the all-time record for consecutive NBA losses. They can break this record against the Raptors Saturday night. That also would tie the longest losing streak of any major US team sports' top league, which is the NFL's Chicago Cardinals' 29 straight losses from 1942-45.

Streak broken as they edged the Raptors, 129-127. They still have a shot at getting the all-time worst full-season record, which is 9-73 achieved by the Sixers in 1972-73, a .110 W/L pct. The Pistons are 3-29 for a ..094 W/L pct. The worst record for a non-full-season was by the 2011-12 Charlotte Bobcats at 7-59 for a .106 W/L pct.

Crazy thing is, they aren't a terrible team. Usually somewhat competitive. This isn't a process era Sixers team (who they tied that streak with). They don't even have the worst point differential this season (San Antionio is worse), and their home differential is only bottom 5 (SA, Washington, Charlotte all worse).
