The Steelers take a step toward fixing their terrible secondary.

              Rotoworld:
Steelers agreed to terms with FS Mike Mitchell, formerly of the Panthers, on a five-year, $25 million contract.
Mitchell, 27 in June, had a number of teams hot on his trail. The Steelers are replacing an aging Ryan Clark with a young, hard hitter in Mitchell at free safety next to Troy Polamalu. Mitchell is coming off a career-year, and it'll be interesting to see if he was a product of the Panthers' stout front seven. The talent on the defensive line in Pittsburgh isn't comparable. Mitchell can cover and play the run.

Jesus, Telesco looks like free agency might not be his thing. Signing Brown for $4million when they already have Mathews (who proved himself to be, at least, semi-reliable last year) and Danny Woodhead when they are up against the cap and need MAJOR help at cornerback. A real WTF for me.

Looks like the Broncs are going for broke (with the Talib signing and rumors of them courting Ware). They're putting themselves in a bad position with the cap in the next couple of years, but if they can win a trophy before then, I say it's worth it.

They only have another 2 years or so of Peyton Manning at peak form. Therefore, what they're doing makes perfect sense.

And the Broncos just land Ware.

Should the rest of the AFC West even bother showing up this year?

The only way that signing makes sense is if Mathews or Woodhead have an undisclosed injury or looming suspension, or a trade is coming.

When Mathews got hurt in the playoffs, the SD running game ground to a halt. They love Woodhead but he's better suited to being a passing specialist like Darren Sproles, and Brown does both equally well (but not well enough to be a full-time starter), so Brown gives them protection in both aspects of the running game.

True, but RB is a position now where you don't need to throw $4 million dollars at it. You can wait and sign a leftover and get the same production. Waste of money for a team up against the cap limit and with MUCH bigger needs.

Tate is going to be a very attractive player come fantasy drafts next year - playing opposite Megatron.
