  • Waiver claim for Julian Edelman?

I'm in a 14 team league with 1/2pt per reception.

My starting lineup right now is:

    QB: Vick
    RB: McCoy
    WR: Dem. Thomas
    WR: Colston
    RB/WR: Nicks
    TE: Sudfeld
    K: Bailey
    DEF: Baltimore

    B: Bradford (QB)
    B: Manuel (QB)
    B: Lacy (RB)
    B: L. Miller (RB)
    B: B. Brown (RB)
    B: V. Brown (WR)

Would you throw in a waiver claim for Edelman this week? If so who would you drop?

I'm also looking at TEs to replace Sudfeld. Currently looking at J. Thomas, Celek, Winslow, Dal. Clark, Gresham, Clay & D. Allen. Rank the TE options please.

    Thanks.

We aren't using FAAB dollars, just simple waiver claim. They reset each week to reverse standings. I'm #5 this week so I'm doubtful that I'll get a shot at Edelman or J. Thomas.

I don't think you need 3 QBs, so drop Manuel for Edelman. After reading this, I'm even more on his wagon...

Julian Edelman, Patriots – Owned in 21 percent of Yahoo leagues
Let’s rewind to last season. In Week 1, Julian Edelman rotated into the slot with Patriots legend Wes Welker. In Week 2, Edelman actually started over Welker and continued to see heavy snaps during Week 3 until he sustained a hand injury. But by the time Edelman got back on the field, Welker had regained a stranglehold on the job. Now let’s move on to Sunday’s game against the Bills, when Edelman was getting heavy snaps early in both two- and three-wide formations – even before Danny Amendola tweaked his groin. Edelman ended up playing on 83-of-94 offensive snaps, recording seven catches for 79 yards and two touchdowns. It’s evidence that the Patriots coaches are infatuated with him. Edelman plays all the positions except Kenbrell Thompkins’ “X” spot. With Shane Vereen (wrist) out a few weeks, Zach Sudfeld proving untrustworthy and Amendola likely out for Week 2, we can be sure Edelman will have a major role in Week 2 and beyond

And I for sure would be picking up J Thomas for Sudfield. In order

        Thomas
        Gresham
Winslow (once a rookie QB latches on to his safety valve, he's gold - health is the major factor here)
        Celek
        Clark
        Allen
        Clay

Good point. I picked up Bradford in the 12th round and grabbed Manuel in the 13th round. Both are keeper options for next year (Bradford - 9th) and (Manuel - 10th).

in a 14-team league, there aren't likely to be many options available, so I would guess he doesn't even make it down to #5. But otherwise, I agree with Friar that you can drop Manuel for him.

And yeah, I'd easily drop Sudfeld for Thomas, then Celek. The others are too hit or miss.

re: Edelman, given that you already own Thomas, Colston and Nicks, I think I'd stand pat to see how Manuel does/see if he ends up with some keeper value.

By the time the bye weeks start, Gronk will be back, Amendola might be back, and Thompkins will be better at route running, so Edelman might be the 4th option on his team.

TE - Thomas, Gresham, Celek would be my order.

I'd go for Edelman in a minute, cutting Manuel. James33 could be right, though I expect a more likely outcome is Thompkins will still be brain dead, Amendola will be hurt, leaving plenty to go around for Edelman and Gronk.
I'm just here for the baseball.

My brother grabbed J. Thomas with the #1 waiver (he has Pettigrew at TE). #2 & #3 teams didn't put in a claim and the #4 team got Edelman. Unfortunately, this week, I play the team that grabbed Edelman. I ended up with Celek at #5 waiver spot.

                  Thanks for all the input.
