  • Which RB after AP and Martin?

Just found out I will pick 4th in a 14-team draft at 10 pm EST tonight.

    PPR league.

Let's assume that neither AP nor Martin are available and that somebody in the top 3 picks a stinker so I have my choice of everybody else.

Charles - seems to be the safest pick as he's the sure starter and he managed to do well on the same bad team last year.

McCoy - would seem to have the biggest upside, but not sure whether the new offense passes that much to the RB vs. handing off to the RB, and who knows how a new offense will do in its first year of operation.

Spiller - the most exciting; he has been dominant whenever Fred Jackson is out, and looks like Spiller will be the man this year. But their QB will be worse than Fitzpatrick, so maybe the offense will tank?

Ray Rice - a consensus elite pick the last few years; I've owned him and watched a lot of Ravens football last year, and it seemed to me that his backup Pearce was as good as Ray Rice last year.

I would've said Charles, but that foot could become an issue. I'd go with Spiller.

There is no wrong answer here. I happen to think McCoy will be huge in the Kelly system, so he got my vote, but there are legitimate arguments for all of those guys.

I put Rice first overall in PPR.

Not really, but I would take him here. Jamaal Charles is the 2nd choice, purely because of durability issues.

Spiller is a distant 4th in this group.

Thanks for the thoughts and the votes, guys!

So the draft occurred as I anticipated, with AP and Doug Martin and a surprise pick (Megatron) going 1-2-3, so I had my choice, and went with McCoy. Here's hoping that the Eagles lead the league in plays from scrimmage and that McCoy survives the year.

Interesting rotojunkie split opinion here; the vote stands at 2-2-2-2-1 as of this writing.

Calvin's been a first rounder, sometimes a high one, in most leagues, esp. PPR ones. So that move wasn't too surprising.

I just voted for Spiller to break the tie. I think EJ Manuel creates enough running room for Spiller.

Considering Spiller outperformed Charles & McCoy last year in overall fantasy points, how do you consider him to be a "distant" fourth?

It has just been one week, I know, but McCoy looked amazing last night in that spread offense.

Charles looked quite good too, and I heard announcers point out that KC had the worst offense in the NFL last year, but Charles still put up a lot of yards.

Ray Rice looked pretty good, with some rotating in of Pierce, as expected. I still like him least among this group because of the rotation.

Didn't see any of the Buffalo game; I wonder why Spiller did next to nothing? revo, joncarlos, it doesn't mean you were wrong when you voted, as there certainly was a legit argument for them, but after just one week, would you now still vote Spiller or change your vote?
