  • Six-Point Passing TD Leagues

I'm taking part in my first six point passing TD league (standard scoring otherwise) tomorrow and I was wondering if anyone had previous experience with these types of leagues. I'm picking fourth (in a 12 teamer) so I'm thinking to stick with a RB here even with the added bonus points for QBs.

I'd imagine that passing QBs get a bump in these type of leagues - negating to a degree running QBs a tad. I'm just not really sure where to jump in on a QB. I usually go with the wait on a QB strategy, especially with the depth that is available this year. This is my first year with this group of guys, so I'm not exactly sure their drafting tendencies.

Sorry for the rambling and open ended question, but does anyone have any overall tips for a league such as this?

I do a 6 pt Td league, but only 10 team so it is a little different. In previous years I went a little earlier on QB, this year I am waiting. You can probably do the same.

I would pick 3-4 Tier 2 QBs (those outside of Brees, Brady, Rodgers and Peyton) and when it gets to you in the 2nd rd analyze who's left....if all 3-4 are still available....take another RB...if more than 2 of those Tier 2 QB's are gone, then grab one of them and pick up the RB in the Rd 3.

      Good luck....

There's really not much of a difference. The main thing, as you assumed, is that the value of running QBs is devalued a bit compared to that of passing QBs. In the end, it's still about your QB vs. everyone else's QB. If you can only start one QB, then there is no difference in scarcity, and you should not spend an early pick on one. IMO the QB pool is deep enough this year that you don't need to pick one before Round 5 unless your league dynamic is such that QBs go really early.

In my 12-team redraft with 6 points for passing TDs, I was able to get RG3 at 7.03. The only QBs taken before then were Brees, Rodgers, P. Manning, Ryan, Brady and Stafford. None of them went in the first two rounds.

I've done one 6-point passing TD league for three years now, so I'll tell you what our league trends are:

          - The "big 4" QBs griswold listed are gone by the 12th pick, latest.
          - The "tier 2" QBs are gone by round 3.
          - WRs not named "Megatron" go half to a full round later than traditional projections.
          - Two of three years, the winning teams took RBs in the first round, and had a "tier 2" QB.
I'm just here for the baseball.
