Local talk radio was speculating on this immediately after the Pickett trade. I have no problem with a running QB if they are still young enough to run. I think Russell Wilson is just a rental. And a bad one at that. Fields is a little more interesting. I just want to see Fields get a chance here and not be mismanaged like Rudolph and Pickett were in the Steelers revolving QB door.

Wilson is a UFA after the season, but Fields's 5th yr option can be picked up for $24m. Now will they do that if he didn't play at all? I'm not sure. I think Wilson gets first run, but Fields will likely end up with the most starts.

Yeah, they definitely need to see what Fields can do with a different supporting cast. But, I'm sure it will not sit well with Wilson if/when he is benched. Pittsburgh has quickly become a quarterback-unfriendly destination.
