pretty likely that Redskins-Cowboys will be flexed into the Sun Nite 12/30 schedule. NBC's best-case scenario would have winner taking NFC East - and getting a home game against the road-phobic Seahawks and then if they win, visiting Atlanta and a skittish Falcons team in conf semis - and the loser going home with no playoff slot.

some other angles would have to fall into place, but it could be that.

Adrian Peterson needs 294 yards in his final two games to break Eric Dickerson's NFL rushing record.

Calvin Johnson needs 182 yards in his final two games to break Jerry Rice's NFL receiving record.

In case anyone was wondering Gore's TD was a fumble recovery.

memo to NFL coaches: if you are at 3rd and 22 and beyond your own 10 yd line in the 2nd half, with a 7-pt lead, you don't burn a precious timeout to avoid a .... delay of game and 3rd and 27.

Danario Alexander was a top 5 receiver the last month, so of course he throws in the goose egg when fantasy owners finally need him most.

Also, Anquan Boldin threw in an ill-timed zilch and benefited many a fantasy opponent (myself included).

The same team that just put up 50 on the road?

I realize the Bills are much worse than any playoff opponent would be, but the Seahawks appear to be a much better team than they were earlier in the season.

It's amazing how teams automatically assume a timeout is the best move in that situation. It is when it's 3rd and 1. It's not when it's 3rd and very long, or 1st or 2nd down (unless you're on the edge of field goal range in a close game.)

Yeah they are. They may, in fact, be the best team in the NFC. Suddenly Russell Wilson warrants award consideration -- both the Rookie of the Year and league MVP.

They were talking about Wilson on Mike & Mike this morning. He may not win ROY but how many people had him in the mix at the beginning of the year.

Seahawks on the road this year:
                          - at Cardinals, lost 20-16
                          - at Rams, lost 20-13
                          - at Panthers, won 16-12
                          - at 49ers, lost 13-6
                          - at Lions, lost 28-24
                          - at Dolphins, lost 24-21
                          - at Bears, won 23-17
                          - at Bills, won 50-17

so the Seahawks are 3-5 on the road, losing to 4 teams that missed the playoffs. the only possible (and I doubt this) playoff team they have beaten on the road are the Bears in the midst of their epic freefall.

                          forgive my skepticism.
oh, and looks like they'll be traveling thousands of miles to NJ, DC, or Dallas areas in the first round.

Yes, they have proven that they can hang tough against non-playoff teams. If they run into one of those in the playoffs, they might even be able to pull one out.

Meanwhile, we're not even having this conversation if not for that replacement ref who is now playing in an off-Broadway version of "Three Blind Mice."

Wilson is having a terrific season, but I wouldn't quite anoint these guys of anything just yet.

"Every single one of their road games, against playoff and non-playoff teams alike,"

except only ONE of those eight road games was against a playoff team (unless the Bears wake up). losing 13-6 against SF is a decent result, except that the 49ers aren't always explosive and it's interesting that their least travel was that game.

I don't think they look that dangerous, but last year's Giants and that 9-7 Cardinals Kurt Warner team (3-7 outside the division) looked even less dangerous and look what they did.

Well, that's why they play the games.
