  • Anyone ever have an undefeated season in fantasy football?

My team just suffered it's first defeat of the season in my 14 team league, and i couldn't help but think that it must be nearly impossible to run off 15 (or whatever #) straight wins to complete a perfect season.

Anyone ever pull it off or come close? Anyone still undefeated this year? Who were/are your players?

    My 6-1 team:
QB) Matt Ryan (Used Hasselbeck for bye week, then dropped)
    WR) Calvin Johnson
    WR) A.J Green
    RB) Stevan Ridley
    RB) Doug Martin
    TE) Kyle Rudolph/ Dustin Keller
    WR/RB) Josh Gordon/Darrius Heyward-Bey/Steven Jackson/Felix Jones
    K) Greg Zuerlein/Shayne Graham
    DEF) Seattle/ Tampa Bay

In 2005, I went 11-2, and lost in the playoffs. My main players were Carson Palmer and TJ Housh.

We've had a league running 20 years and we've never had a team go completely undefeated. One team did go 12-1 and we've had two teams run off 10 straight wins, but none of those teams advanced to the Super Bowl.

I had a team go undefeated during the regular season in my money league but then was upset in the playoffs.

Once I went 15-1 including playoffs, not losing after Week 2. In a free league, of course.

My best that I can remember was my newly created TD league at my old job. I started the season 12-0 in a 14 game season. 10 team league. I went on to lose my next 3 games. Finished in 3rd. That really sucked. I had Peyton Manning, Marvin Harrison, Emmitt Smith. I do remember picking Skip Hicks and missing out on Edge's rookie year by waiting 1 rd too long in the draft.
Bob- I'm not exactly sure it would ROCK as you say it Byron.. it may be cool, by typical text book descriptions. Your opinion of this is shallow and poorly constructed, but allow me to re-craft your initial thought into something tangable.

7-0 with the most points in my deep league (10 teams, but we use a couple extra guys; 2 QB, 3 WR, 3 RB, TE, WR/RB/TE, K, DEF, 8 bench. PPR, 6 points for passing TDs)

Everyone goes for QBs early and I tend to get a bunch of mediocre ones and play matchups. This year I managed to make a trade for a good one though - traded McFadden and Palmer for Brees and Mendenhall.

              My team:
QB: Brees, Fitzpatrick, Dalton, Sanchez, Kolb
WR: Cruz, Colston, White, Jennings, Hixon
RB: McCoy, Mendenhall, Stewart, Greene, Dwyer
              TE: Pettigrew, Rudolph
              K: Zuerlein
              DEF: Arizona
In the best of times, our days are numbered, anyway. And it would be a crime against Nature for any generation to take the world crisis so solemnly that it put off enjoying those things for which we were presumably designed in the first place, and which the gravest statesmen and the hoarsest politicians hope to make available to all men in the end: I mean the opportunity to do good work, to fall in love, to enjoy friends, to sit under trees, to read, to hit a ball and bounce the baby.

I once had a perfect season until Brian Westbrook decided to stop short of a touchdown. I lost that week in the playoffs by four points. Not that I am bitter.

in 2003, I lost my 1st game of the year, but then rolled off 16 consecutive wins en route to a 16-1 record and the league title. Kind of like Ernie Shore's perfect game!

This happened to me about 4 yrs ago in my work league.

Went 13-0, got a 1st rd bye and lost in the semi finals.

We had a guy go undefeated in the season but lose in the championship. His team had the most points, but not by a lot. He would get the 7th best point total one week but wind up playing one of the 3 worse teams and the next week play the 2nd highest scoring team but he would be the top scoring team.

The big caveat is that almost everyone in the league liked playing 17 weeks instead of 16 and this guy may have won but he had a few guys sitting out our championship week since NFL playoff spots were secured. We play 16 weeks now.

League in existence since 1990, we've never had anyone go undefeated. 12-0 is best start I can remember anyone having. We've had a couple teams go 13-1 or 12-1 after we shortened the regular season, but each of those teams (including the one with the 12-0 start who finished the regular season 13-1) lost in the playoffs.

My guess as to why this is so rare: fluky performances. Even the best RB and QB lay an egg on occasion, and mediocre WRs don't really put up mediocre numbers each week; they put up bad numbers most weeks and really good numbers a couple times a year.

One of my leagues has a 7-0 team. He is second in total points, but is averaging about 20 fewer points allowed per game than most other teams.

He did make a deal with a dumper, so it's possible he could keep this up, but there are a few other teams that are strong as well.

Same here, been in a league for nearly 20 years. Teams have lost 1-2 games but no team has gone unbeaten.

                            bye weeks
                            injuries
week-to-week consistency varies with certain players
                            random luck
good/bad matchup on any given week
                            weather can impact performance

His team is now 13-0. He led in points in each of weeks 10, 11, and 12, and has taken over the total points lead.

Now, in 2009, he went into the title game as a heavy favorite but lost because Jay Cutler went nuts on MNF. So you never know what might happen this year.
