  • Andy Reid's Son Found Dead

His son Garrett was found dead early this morning. Was this the one who was in and out of trouble? What a tragedy at the start of training camp.

    From the USAtoday article:
Garrett Reid had allegedly been drug free since his Nov. 7, 2007 court hearing following his arrest on drug and weapons charges and had been working with the team's strength and conditioning staff.

Reid, who last missed an Eagles practice to attend that court date, was not at the morning walk-through as he was informing family members of the loss.

Shupp said that Reid was found "unresponsive" by officers after a 911 call was placed to campus police.

His two oldest sons both fit that description. In fact they were arrested on the same day in 2007.

      Very sad news.

EASTON, Pa. -- A coroner said Thursday that an accidental heroin overdose killed Garrett Reid, the son of Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid.

Northampton County Coroner Zachary Lysek announced the findings with investigators, who said numerous syringes and needles were discovered in a gym bag in Garrett Reid's room.

Garrett Reid was found dead in his dorm room on Aug. 5 at Lehigh University in Easton, where he was assisting the team's strength and conditioning coach during training camp.

He was a recovering drug addict who had seemingly turned his life around. His father, Andy Reid, had indicated that his 29-year-old son may have had a relapse.

Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli said that investigators found 47 syringes and 65 needles in the younger Reid's gym bag, many of them unopened.
