Former NFL fullback Kevin Turner died Thursday morning after a battle with ALS. He was 46 years old.

Turner, who played for Alabama and then eight seasons in the NFL with New England and Philadelphia, was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, in 2010.

NEW ORLEANS -- Former Saints defensive end Will Smith was shot to death in New Orleans' Lower Garden District on Saturday night following a traffic collision, the coroner's office confirmed.

Smith, 34, was shot after exchanging words with the driver of a Hummer H2 that rear-ended his Mercedes G63 SUV, causing him to strike another vehicle, police said.

Former Saints RB, scout and radio color analyst Hokie Gajan lost his battle with cancer yesterday. He was to the Saints organization what Ron Santo was to the Cubs. A Saints lifer...a true Who Dat. Hokie was 56 years old.

14-year NFL vet Bryan Robinson, who played for the Bears and four other teams, died at 41.

Former Colts running back Zurlon Tipton has died following an accidental shooting at a car dealership in Michigan Tuesday morning, the Wayne County medical examiner's office confirmed.

Tipton was 26.

Roseville Police told WJBK that a man pulled into a Roseville car dealership around 9:30 a.m. and attempted to take a duffel bag out of the trunk of his car. There were two guns in that bag, according to police, and one of them fired and shot the man, who the examiner's office confirmed was Tipton, in the stomach.

Quentin Groves, a defensive end who was taken in the 2nd round of the 2008 draft by Jacksonville and in an 8-year career also played for the Browns, Raiders, Titans and Cardinals, died at age 32.

Former NY Jet Dennis Byrd, who broke his neck in a 1992 game and was told he'd never walk again only to walk a few weeks later and become a nationwide inspiration, was killed in a car accident in Oklahoma. He was 50.

Former Dolphin Fulton Walker, who had the first kickoff return TD in Super Bowl history in 1983, died at age 58. RIP.

Former Jets and Chiefs RB Joe McKnight was shot and killed in an apparent road rage incident in New Orleans.

1994 Heisman Trophy winner and 1995 Rookie of the Year Rashaan Salaam was found dead in a Colorado park. He was 42. RIP.
