  • 1.08 in a 12-team non-PPR league

In this league, you don't lose points for INTs or Fumbles. Passing TDs are 4pts - all others 6pts. 2pt bonus for TDs over 40yds. Start 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 Flex, 1 TE, 1 K, 1 D/ST

I've got the 8th pick and my draft is tomorrow. There are plenty of Eagle fans in this league, so I'm pretty sure McCoy will be gone by 1.08.

I'm determined to go RB for a number of reasons. Yes, Aaron Rodgers or Andre Johnson could be available, but I think I want the consistency of a solid RB.

So would you take McFadden or Mendenhall?

Mendenhall has a slightly better 2nd half schedule, but McFadden's is not all that bad. I guess my biggest problem is that McFadden is running under a different OC and while he could produce more this year, he might not. He also doesn't have a history of staying healthy for a full year. Isaac Redman will probably be on the waiver wire. Michael Bush will most certainly be drafted.

    Thoughts?

both are quality backs, but I love Run-DMC's home run hitting ability and better pass catching skills rather than Mendenhall's plodding and goal line ability. The only worry is McFadden's injury risk, but if healthy, he could also challenge for #1 RB overall status -- something Mendenhall would never do.

McFadden's an easy call for me here.

Hey John. Long time, no see. Glad you found the place. You might want to check the "What happened to.." thread in the Bull Pen. Take your wood and your brass.

This is a close call. McFadden is electric. There is a vogue on speed specialists at RB: CJ2K, Jamaal Charles, Felix Jones, RunDMc. McFadden will get plenty of work. Mendenhall is more the Franco Harris type bruiser the Steelers love. He does his own GL work.

I would go with Mendenhall for two reasons. First, he is better established. Second, I worry about speed players getting injured. A turf toe would matter less to Mendenhall. ADP is about 9 for RM, and bout 13 for DMc. That off for both, but the order is right.

It looks like this is non-PPR, in which case I would go with Mendenhall, who is consistent from week to week and not injury prone, neither of which can be said about McFadden.

If this were PPR, I would have said McFadden.

Thanks for the input everyone. McFadden is certainly the sexier option, which is why I'm going back and forth. In the end, Mendenhall is the more dependable of the two, so that's the way I'll lean. I'll gamble in later rounds. If I were to gamble in Round 1 and miss, my season's in serious jeopardy.
