The Jets were idiots to not find a way and an excuse to tank.

"If they had played Philly earlier in the year,"

the Team played Philly in Week 1 - trailed 17-0 but won 27-17

as noted, the weird choices by the Eagles and the bizarre mewling by Giants and their fans are mostly separate issues. nobody enjoyed The Nate Sudfeld Experience, but Hurts was bad and the Eagles hardly were a lock to win with him in there anyway.

and yes, I'll miss the comic coaching stylings of Anthony Lynn - but I've still got Vic Fangio in Denver!

yesterday he punted on 4th and 1 at the 48, kicked a FG on 4th and 2 from the 30, and called a timeout before the game-deciding two-point conversion try by the Raiders - saving them from a 5-yard penalty that might have been the difference, as the Raiders (Gruden!) were all confused and running out of time.

plus the Cowboys flipped this year from Jason Garrett to Mike McCarthy, which is hilarious.

with 32 slots, I'll never run out of punching bags!

You whiffed on the point again apparently. It wasn't a hard one.

They faced a "real opponent" in week 1 (like I said in the post you quoted before you edited it out and made it say something I didn't say or imply).
They should similarly be required to face a "real opponent" in week 17 like the other teams they were competing against.

"If they had played Philly earlier in the year, like the Giants on 12/9, then it's likely they would have faced a real opponent."

yes, how could any of us possibly take that statement to mean that they didn't play Philly earlier in the year?

                    lol

I realize the Jags will get Lawrence, but if I were a popular candidate that had choices, the Chargers would be the team I'd want to take over.

yes, the Jaguars owner said yesterday that he will continue to be in charge of personnel decisions - I guess the rousing success of Jones and Snyder has blinded him or something.

Chargers have some serious talent, beyond just a stud QB - and they have a stud QB.

WTF are you talking about? The WFT played Philly week 1. A team that was not tanking. Later on, in week 17, they played a team that benched their QB to tank. They played a real opponent week 1. They didn't week 17. Is this really that hard to figure out. Good Lord. My 7 year old could understand this, and you can't? Amazing.

Well, the mystery of why Seattle ran a shovel pass at the end of their game with the Niners has been cleared up, and no, it wasn't to piss off the Niners eternally. It did get the WR he threw it to an extra $100k for the year.

Emmanuel Sanders needed 8 catches to get a $500k bonus. On his 8th grab of the day, he went to his knees and thanked the good lord above. He got 9.
