  • Dak for Luck?

12 teams, 1/2 point PPR, all else standard. We start: 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1 Flex (RB/WR/TE), K, DEF

I was offered Andrew Luck for my Dak Prescott. I have Russell Wilson as my starter so I wouldn't be hurt by Luck missing a few games, assuming he comes back healthy. Another consideration is that Dak would be an 11th round keeper next year so if he takes the next step into the top 10 of QB's then he'd be a valuable keeper (and/or trade chip down the line).

So, what says the pen? Roll the dice on Luck returning to health and being a top QB for the stretch run or hold on to Dak and take a chance on his upside?

I wouldn't touch Luck right now, based on the behavior of the Colts front office. I think that he was hurt a LOT more than they ever let on, and I doubt that he's even throwing footballs yet. Dak might have the same upside once you add in the rushing, which I don't think that Luck is going to do a lot of anymore...

If Luck returns to health, what would you do with him? Trade him? But in a 12-tm, 1QB league he wouldn't fetch much. I'd pass.

If he returns to health and in turn returns to being a top-5 QB, don't you think he'd have some value (either in my starting lineup or as a trade)? Granted, both are big "if's" but he isn't that far removed from being towards the top of the position.

Yeah, he'd have "some" value. QBs just don't fetch much in 1 QB leagues, and I'm not sure you would use him over Wilson. Dak may be much better for you since he was nearly just as good as Luck last year and he's an 11th rd keeper, which would be attractive to a dumper.

Also, you say "if Dak takes the next step" and becomes a Top 10 QB -- but last year he was the fantasy #6 QB.

Good point regarding Dak as #6 last year. I've been reading too many "projections" and haven't been looking at last year's numbers as much.

Yeah, I'd just hang onto Dak instead of being tempted by a bigger name. Good luck!
